UCW
adopts
new
budget
EXETER — The evening
unit of Exeter United UCW
met Mon., Feb. 7 with 28
members and five guests
present. Unit leader Betty
Clark conducted the busi-
ness for the evening.
Several reports were given
and the new budget was
adopted. Beef meat pies
will be made March 2.
Devotions were conduct-
ed by Jean Palmer, Barb
Wein, Melva Ecker, Betty
Clark and Fran Mickle
using the theme `Jesus
Loves Me'. A humorous,
yet very meaningful skit
called, 'A meeting At The
Exeter Post Office' was
performed by Wein, Ecker
and Palmer.
Everyone enjoyed a tasty
lunch served by Laurie
Shapton's group.
Pancake suppers in Granton

GRANTON — The First
Bryanston Scouting spon-
sored a pancake and
sausage supper at the
Granton Fire Hall on
Shrove Tuesday, Feb. 8
which was quite success-
ful.
The pancake supper at
St. Paul's Anglican
Church in Kirkton on
Shrove Tuesday, Feb. 8
was also well attended.
Granton -Wesley UCW.
Unit 2 met at the church
on Thursday evening,
Feb. 10. President
Marion Gott chaired the
meeting and led the busi-
ness. The remaining time
was spent updating the
church photo album.
At the Granton -Wesley
United Church on
Sunday, Feb. 13, Lay
Pastor Val Hodgins led
the service. Michelle
McBurney lit the Christ
Candle.
The lessons were from
Genesis 2 and 3 and
Romans 5 and the choir
did a reading of Matthew
4. The message was enti-
tled `Created to Live With
Gord'.
The anthem by the
choir was `Whispering
Window
smashed
DASHWOOD — On
Feb. 1 at 10:30 p.m. a
man called police over
tracks found in the snow
at his home in
Dashwood.
The man followed the
tracks, leading from his
place to his neighbour's
on the Main Street.
The tracks went
around a grey 1984
Chev Camaro, stopping
at the passenger's win-
dow, which was
smashed. The owner
was away and it is
unknown if anything
was stolen.

The World Day of
Prayer service is to be
held at Granton -Wesley
Fri., March 4 at 7:30 p.m.
St. Paul's Anglican
Church congregation
attended the joint service
at St. James Anglican
Church in St. Marys on
Sun., Feb. 13 at 11 a.m.
when Bishop Bob
Bennett celebrated the
Holy Eucharist and offici-
ated for two baptisms
and one confirmation.
The sermon was about
God's forgiveness and
unconditional love.
The combined choir of
St. James and St. Paul's
sang a special anthem
for the occasion. Bishop
Bennett also conducted
the Installation of the two
church congregational
councils.
A time of fellowship fol-
lowed the service.
