THAMES ROAD CORRESPONDENT
THAMES ROAD — The
February meeting of the
UCW was held on Tuesday
evening with 29 women
and one visitor present.
There was a line of red
and white hearts across
the front of the platform;
the meeting table had a
red tablecloth with the
embroidered name cloth
over it; a candy dish full
of red wrapped chocolate
hearts; a vase of pretty
flowers; and a big red
heart hanging from the
ceiling.
The Leadership and
Development Committee
were in charge of the
meeting. Virginia Warwick
welcomed everyone and
spoke about God's love,
divine love and global
love. Lorraine Alexander
read `Containers of Love'.
The women sang Love
Divine accompanied by
Agnes Bray at the piano.
Doris Elford read from
Hebrews 10:22-24, John
13:34-35, 1 John 4:7-8.
Margaret Stewart read a
story 'On Love'. Warwick
shared Hannah's story
with the group. Elford and
Alexander received the
offering. Warwick gave
the Offertory Prayer.
Elford gave a reading 'A
Person of a Different Skin'.
Stewart introduced
Nancy Corrigan who is
studying for Diaconal
Ministry. Corrigan who
was to Guatemala in
November showed many
pictures and gave a won-
derful commentary. She
was thanked by Alexander
who gave her the vase of
flowers and an envelope.
President Carolyn Johns
opened the business part
of the meeting with a
reading `Friends and
Friendship'. The women
said the UCW Purpose.
Secretary Diane Jeffery
took the roll call which
was answered with, 'A
Valentine You
Remember'. Minutes of
the last meeting were read
and the correspondence
was dealt with. Reports
were given by treasurer
Joan Skinner and also
leaders from the Standing
Committees.
The World Day of Prayer
will be held Fri., March 4
at 7 p.m. at Bethel
Reformed Church, Exeter.
The meeting closed with
the UCW Prayer.
A delicious dessert and
tea was partaken of which
had been prepared by
Bray, Ruth Anne Osgood
and Stewart.
Church service
Dave Williams was in
charge of the first Sunday
of Lent church service on
Sunday morning.
Everyone sang the Lenten
Introit and people shook
hands. Helen Kadey gave
a minute for council.
Williams gave the wel-
come and the announce-
ments and led in the Call
to Worship and the
Gathering Prayer in uni-
son.
The gathering hymn
Jesus Tempted in the
Desert was sung. The
Affirmation of Faith 'A
New Creed' was read in
unison.
The Children's Hymn,
Jesus You Have Come to
the Lakeshore was sung.
Brett Warwick and
Richard Johns lit five can-
dles. Williams read about
love and then Johns blew
four candles out, leaving
one alight.
The choir sang He Loves
Me with Marilyn
Vandenbussche and
Robert Bray each singing
a verse accompanied by
organist Jean Hodgert.
Shirley Kerslake and
Kadey received the offer-
ing. The closing hymn, 0
Master Let Me Walk was
sung.
Williams gave the
Commissioning and pro-
nounced the Benediction.
Everyone sang May the
God of Hope Go With Us.

ANNUAL MEETING
The 129th Annual Meeting of the Usborne & Hibbert
Mutual Fire Insurance Company will be held at the
Kirkton-Woodham Community Centre at 2:00 P.M. on
Monday, February 28th, 2005, for presentation of the
Annual Report for 2004, to elect Directors and to transact
any business that may rightly come before the meeting.
Nominations will be received for the election of two
Directors for a three year term. The Directors whose term
of office expires are Ron Feeney and Mike O'Shea, both
of whom are eligible for re-election.
Notice is hereby given that motions will be presented at
our Annual Meeting amending the by-laws of the
Company as follows:
Article 33 - Remuneration
Article 21 - Any person wishing to seek election or re-
election as a Director must file his intention to stand for
election in writing with the Secretary Manager of the
Corporation at least ten days in advance of an Annual
Meeting or Special General Meeting called for the pur-
pose of electing Directors.
