Wednesday, February 16, 2005 Exeter Times–Advocate 11. Fundraising in Grand Bend Students in the two Grade 7/8 classes at Grand Bend Public School have been busily making a denim quilt which will be raffled off May 10 as a fundraiser for the Grade 8 trip to Camp Celtic in Tobermory as well as another trip for the Grade 7s. Students brought in the jeans and have been doing all the sewing along with help from parent Joan Love. Pictured from left are Conrad Love, Cody Wright, Benny Gates, Ryan Dekker, Grade 7/8 teacher Deborah Dennis, Ben Russell, Joan Love,Amy Batten and Colin Higgins. The trip to Tobermory costs $330/child, and teacher Deborah Dennis is hoping the quilt will raise $2,000. Raffle tickets are available at the library in the school, the office or during the school's performance of "Wizard of Oz," Feb. 24-25.Tickets are $2 each or three for $5. Dennis said the quilt has been a great way for students to learn as well as fundraise at the same time. The school completed a similar project three years ago for a trip to Tobermory.
