Hurondale WI learns of community services
Submitted by Bev Campbell
EXETER — Eleven members of
Hurondale WI and two guests
attended the January lunch meeting
at the home of Marian Dougall.
After lunch, the meeting was
opened by Fern Dougall with the
Institute Ode and the Mary Stewart
Collect being recited. The roll call
was answered by naming a commu-
nity service available and judging by
the responses, Exeter and surround-
ing area is well served. However, a
discussion followed on the fervent
wish of a seniors' centre where all of
the senior programming could take
place under one roof.
Marian Dougall then introduced
the guest speaker, Fay Skinner, who
is well known for her involvement in
community services. Skinner
explained that the Community Care
Access Centre (CCAC) of Huron
should be your first contact when
the need arises for services avail-
able. She distributed the Town and
Country Support Services Directory
as part of her presentation on the
extent of services offered in the
county.
Skinner also gave out information
on the `Private Recipe - Frozen Meal
Programme', as well as `Lifeline'
which is a personal response service
for older adults living at home.
Marian Dougall thanked Skinner
and gave her an appreciation gift.
Lois McFalls gave a meaningful
reading on the motto of
Volunteerism.
The three lap quilts being complet-
ed will be given to three nursing
homes for the use by residents. A
donation was made to the Exeter
Fair being held in September.
