LUCAN — The Lucan Ilderton Jets
came up just short in their first play-
off game, with a hard fought 3-2 loss
against defending champion Durham
Feb. 4 in Lucan.
The Jets opened the scoring early
in the first period on an end-to-end
effort by Shaun Fairweather but
Durham replied with a pair of goals
before the period was over for a 2-1
lead.
Matt Munro tied it in the second
period, but with time winding down
in the third period the Jets got
caught on a line change and Durham
took advantage.
Picking up a loose puck, Durham's
Rob LeBlanc stepped across the
blueline and fired a "rocket of a
shot," according to Jets general
manager Rob Andrews, that Jets
goalie Dave Riddell didn't have a
chance to move on.
Andrews said the Jets did every-
thing they could, "but just didn't get
any breaks...we knew going into this
series we were going to have our
hands full. They are still the defend-
ing champions until somebody beats
them."
The series will resume in Durham
Friday night at 8:30 p.m. with game
four in Lucan Feb. 12 at 8:30 p.m.
