Community prayer service Jan. 13 for Tsunami victims
submitted by
Caven Presbyterian
Church
EXETER — Caven
Presbyterian Church in
Exeter will be holding a
community prayer ser-
vice Thurs., Jan. 13 at 7
p.m. for victims of the
Asian Tsunami.
The service is expected
to last about a half an
hour and has been
designed to allow the
community to come
together in Christian
prayer for the victims,
survivors, and those per-
sons now providing relief
to this devastated part of
the world.
The church decided to
hold the service in
response to a need they
perceived was being felt
within the community. It
is an opportunity for
people to gather and to
pray out their concerns
and their heartbreak. It
is what we feel we
should be doing for the
Spirit.
So many people have
given so generously with
their financial contribu-
tions, and yet we know
that many people still
feel sad and helpless. As
Christians, we pray our
concerns to a loving God,
even when a disaster of
this proportion can leave
us feeling vulnerable and
outside of God's reach.
The service is open to
everyone including chil-
dren, whether they come
from a church back-
ground or not. We feel
that people have been
very much affected by
this natural disaster and
we want to share with
the community in
prayer.
This is the response of
a loving church, acting
as the Body of Christ, to
its community. Caven is
located at 68 Main St. S.,
Exeter, just south of the
bridge.
