The Times Advocate, 2005-01-12, Page 7Wednesday, January 12, 2005 Exeter Times—Advocate 7 South Huron Surplus has strong opening By Scott Nixon TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF EXETER — Nearly one month after open- ing South Huron Surplus, owner Roland Watterworth describes business as "excellent." South Huron Surplus sells a wide variety of end -of -the -line, mostly new products: electron- ics, computers, televi- sions, stereos, tools, generators, games and musical instruments are just a few of the items offered. Because the items are end -of -the -line, Watterworth says he can sell them for about one third the price they would normally be. Most of the products for sale still have their manufacturer's war- ranties, he said. Most of the items for sale are imported and come from places such as California and Taiwan. Watterworth, of Clinton, is no stranger to the business world. He's been self- employed for 20 years, has owned Finnegan's Restaurant in Grand Bend for about a year and is the former owner of Best Computers. He decided to open in Exeter because the town was lacking a sur- plus store, something customers have told him. Watterworth has already noticed his Main Street location isn't big enough and he hopes to expand to three times the current size in another location in Exeter in the spring. He adds he'll carry any items the public requests and he also sells on EBay. South Huron Surplus opened on Exeter's Main Street about a month ago and already has plans to expand. The store sells a variety of end -of -the -line prod- ucts, including comput- ers, televisions, stereos and games. Pictured are owner Roland Watterworth, left, and manager Ken Coutts.
