Skating Club sponsoring NewYear's Circus Eve
By Carmel Sweeney
ZURICH CORRESPONDENT
ZURICH — Don and Elaine Beauchamp spent last
weekend in Pembroke visiting with his mother and
attended the Beauchamp family Christmas party.
The Hay Mutual Insurance Company Christmas staff
luncheon was enjoyed at Hessenland last Friday, where
they also celebrated the 40th anniversary of John
Consitt being with the business.
The next bus service from Zurich to the Bank of
Montreal in Hensall will be Fri., Dec. 31, 9:15 and 9:30
a.m. from the same places as usual.
Jennifer Jeffrey is home for the holidays from
Edmonton to spend Christmas with her parents, Barb
and Charlie and family members. The
children of Don and Sharon Gingerich of
RR 2, Zurich are home for the Christmas
holidays.
The lucky winner of the Christmas draw—Kit Kat
remote car—at the Zurich Food Market was Jo Koloff of
Zurich.
Free family skating
There will be free family skating at the Zurich
Complex from Dec. 20 to 31: Monday and Tuesday from
1 to 2 p.m.; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 1 to
2 p.m.; except Wed., Dec. 22-2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Come
out and bring your friends.
After many years working at the Blue Water Rest
Home, Verlie Lavery has retired and will soon be going
to visit her son Greg and family in Winnipeg for three
months. The staff at Blue Water Rest Home will have a
get together for her in the spring.
The families of Martha and Joe Risi had their
Christmas dinner and get together at the Zurich
Complex on Sunday. The Schroeder family Christmas
party was held at Pine Lake community hall this past
weekend.
The Christmas concert held at the Mount Carmel
School Dec. 15 was very good. A full house of parents,
grandparents and relatives were there to see all the kids
do a good job in their skits.
Bob and Nancy Brown, Zurich are happy to announce
the arrival of their fifth grandchild, a boy, Alexander
Robert born Dec. 7 to proud parents Jessie and Joe
Morley of Centralia.
The Bank of Montreal will be closed Dec. 25 to 28 and
Jan. 1 to 3; but, the bank machines will be open.
In spite of the snowy weather last Tuesday night, there
was a good turnout at the Zurich Mennonite Church for
the `Yuletide Christmas' program.
We all enjoyed hearing the various entertainers along
with the singing of the Harmony Hi-Lites. Bruce
Whitmore was master of ceremony. Women from all the
churches were invited and some residents from the rest
home came as well. A social hour with refreshments fol-
lowed in their fellowship hall.
We have been having lots of fun at Monday night
ladies bowling league. The executive are busy having
draws for various things, along with the weekly 50/50
draws. Our president is Sabrina Oesch, secretary Elaine
Weido and treasurer, Lorna. This past Monday we had
a gift exchange plus prizes for the hidden scores. There
will be no bowling until Jan. 7.
