(photo/Scott Nixon) Man charged with dangerous driving SOUTH HURON - A Huron OPP officer was driving on the Main Street of Exeter when he spotted a vehicle leaving a car dealership Dec. 8 at approximately 4:45 p.m. The officer noticed the driver of the 1988 Ford Mustang was someone police had dealt with for Highway Traffic Act issues. When the officer slowed down, the dri- ver of the Mustang quickly stopped and then drove through the parking lot at an estimated speed of over 100 km/h and out through a rear exit onto McConnell Street, almost striking another vehicle in the intersection. The officer attempted to stop the driver, who was passing vehicles at speeds over 120 km/h and a short distance later of speeds over 160 km/h. Police say traffic was heavy and the driver refused to stop, passing vehicles on the gravel shoulder. The officer stopped the chase so other drivers would not be affected. Later that night an 18 -year-old Bluewater man was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from a police officer. The investigation continues into other traffic -related issues. raises over November's Kause for Kids parade, held for the third year by Ontario's West Coast Riders, raised $25,466 and over 1,200 toys for local charities that help children with special needs. The funds are distributed through the Grand Bend Optimists and stay in Huron, Lambton and Middlesex counties.
