Later in the week, Davis enjoyed visits from daughter and daugh- ter-in-law Heather and Suzanne. Visitors with Hazel this week in London were Ralph, Joyce and Darren Simpson and daughter Heather MacGillivray. St. Patrick's was deco- rated for Advent and Christmas when the con- gregation and friends along with Rev. Stanley Jay and his wife Liz Jay arrived for the Advent 3 holy eucharist service at 6:30 p.m., Saturday evening. Chrismon symbols Candles decorated each window along with the white lights and the beau- tiful Chrismon symbols decorated the Christmas tree. A Chrismon is a monogram of Christ made in a combination of white of gratitude for special guidance and gold. White—the litur- gical colour for Christmas—refers to our Lord's purity and perfec- tion. Gold refers to His majesty and SAINNSBURY NEWS glory. We point to Christ as the Light of the World by using tiny white lights on the tree and throughout the church. Candles adorned the altar and tables. Again this year at St. Patrick's the tree is decorated with these sym- bols (handcrafted by the women) from Christian Proceeds from last year's Canada Day celebrations in Exeter were recently donat- ed to benefit the community. Canada Day chairperson Casey Zeehuisen stands third from right while, from left receiving $500 each for their organizations were Jeff Musser of the Exeter Firemen's Association, Nancy Rader of the Exeter Lioness Club, Jo -Anne Fields of the Children's Aid Society Booster Club, Huron County Christmas Bureau manager Joan Agnew and Glenn Kells of the Exeter Lions Club (receiving the cheque on behalf of the MacNaughton - Morrison Trail). The Advent candles for hope, peace and joy were lit by Hazel Davis. Rev. Jay was assisted by Bob MacGillivray. Crystal Ellerington and Margaret Carroll read Scripture and prayers. Katie -Scarlett MacGillivray was lay assis- tant for the holy eucharist and Starr Davis presented the offering. Presented with a gift A letter of thanks was read from Gladys Davis. Rev. Jay and his wife Liz were presented with a gift of money for their love, concern and guidance they have shown to all of us at St. Patrick's. Following the service everyone enjoyed a meal of chili, buns and cake— thanks to the MacGillivray family—and all the extra goodies from the remain- ing families. Hugh Davis and his granddaughter Katie - Scarlett MacGillivray enjoyed the hockey game in Lucan between the Lucan Ilderton Jets and the Durham Thundercats with the Jets winning 8 to 7.
