RIDE programs lead to
several charges
SOUTH HURON — Huron OPP were busy conducting
RIDE programs in the county last weekend.
On Dec. 3 a check was done on the Main Street of
Exeter. At approximately 10:15 p.m. a green Ford pick-
up truck was stopped and a quantity of open alcohol and
a bag of marijuana was found inside. A 21 -year-old

of a controlled substance and will attend court in Exeter

was stopped on Huron Street at the intersection of Parr
Line. Several youths were in the vehicle with a quantity
of alcohol. Two youths from South Huron were charged
with liquor violations.
A short time later the RIDE stop moved to Morrison
Line where a 2002 Chev Silverado was stopped at 12:15
a.m. The driver, an 18 -year-old male from Blanshard
Township, was issued a Highway Traffic violation, a
liquor violation and lost his driver's licence for 12 hours.
Another RIDE stop was made on Huron Street in
Exeter where a 2003 black Toyota carrying four people
open alcohol was discovered. A 32 -year-old South Huron
female was charged with liquor offences.
Keep the Grinch
out of Christmas
MIDDLESEX — The festive time of year is upon us and
Middlesex OPP wants to ensure everyone has a safe and
happy time by decreasing opportunities for would -be -
thieves.
Provided below are some safety tips to reduce your
likelihood of being burglarized this holiday season:
• Always lock everything in the trunk of your vehicle
while shopping.
• Thieves will be on the lookout for presents, so don't
leave them under the tree in view of the window.
• If you're travelling, ensure a neighbour is charged
with looking after your home by picking up your mail or
newspapers and shovelling your driveway.
• Purchase timers for lights, televisions and radios to
give your home a lived-in appearance.
• Cancel newspapers while away.
• Lock away all your tools and lock your garage and
garden shed.
• Keep doors locked even while at home.
• Never open your door completely to a stranger, use a
chain lock.
