'Goal of the century' forAndrews
By Pat Bolen
TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
STRATHROY - "I was
going in and it felt right
so I just did it." Former
Exeter Hawk and current
Strathroy Rocket Shayne
Andrews describes scor-
ing what has been called
the greatest goal in
Rockets history.
Andrews was involved
in a shootout against the
Leamington Flyers Oct.
14 when he scored a goal
which is referred to as a
"Cheecho" after Jonathan
Cheecho who scored
using it for the San Jose
Sharks against the
Colorado Avalanche last
year in the playoffs.
Driving towards the
Flyers net, Andrews
slipped his stick back-
wards between his legs
and flipped the puck past
Leamington goalie Frank
Dayus in one motion.
The goal evened the
shootout before the
Rockets won it with their
next shot.
Andrews said he had
worked on the move in
practice before but had
never tried it in a game.
"The goalie is not really
expecting it and you get
him moving across the
net and put the puck up

in the top on the other
side so he doesn't really
have much of a chance of
getting it."
Coming back to the
bench after scoring with
the move, Andrews faced
the usual ribbing from his
teammates.
"They thought I was
pretty crazy that I tried
that because if I didn't
score we would have lost
