Man under investigation
for leaving crash scene
SOUTH HURON — n Nov. 27 at approximately 3:30
a.m. OPP were called to the scene of a single vehicle
crash.
Police say a citizen woke up to a crashing sound and
looked out his window to see a black 1995 GMC SUV
had left Bluewater Highway, entered the west ditch
and struck a tree. The citizen saw a man exit the pas-
senger side door and walk off down the highway.
When officers arrived no one was found in the area.
Police contacted the registered owner of the vehicle,
but he was not home. The officer found a quantity of
blood inside the vehicle indicating the driver had been
injured in the crash. The canine unit followed the
scent of the person to a garage where a phone had
been used.
Later that day the owner was discovered at a resi-
dence near Dashwood suffering from a head injury.
The 28 -year-old man was taken for medical treat-
ment. The driver and another male are facing
Flighway Traffic Act offences and Criminal Code viola-
tions. The investigation continues.
