Her birthday was Dec. 6. A nice time was had by those attending the adult fellowship Christmas banquet held Nov. 4 at the Zurich Mennonite Church Hall. Early stops for Santa Santa Claus will be coming to Rona Cashway to see the children in Zurich Sat., Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. to noon. The annual Santa Claus day for the children, sponsored by the Zurich Lions Club, will be held at the Zurich Complex on Sat., Dec. 18 beginning at 2 p.m. Children will be treated to movies, chocolate milk and bags of candy from Santa. The Zurich Scouts also help with this event. The family of Jerome Denomme celebrated their Christmas together Dec. 5 at the Maple Woods Apartment with dinner in the common room. St. Boniface School staff enjoyed their Christmas dinner and get-together at Hessenland Country Inn on Friday night. Paul and Sue Lavoie treated their staff to a deli- cious Christmas dinner Dec. 4 at Erb's County Kitchen. Jerome and I enjoyed going to a Christmas dinner and party at the Candlelight in Goderich Saturday night. The Seaforth Harmony Hi Lites will be singing at the Zurich Mennonite Church on Tues., Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Audrey Smith returned home on the weekend after spending the past month visiting with her sister Margaret in Sudbury. The Women's Institute held their Christmas get- together Monday with dinner at Allen's Restaurant in Dashwood. It is that time of year when Christmas cards are coming in the mail. Be sure and save the stamps for the Catholic Women's League who send them to mis- sions. Leave the stamps on the table at the back of the St. Boniface Church or put in the box under the table. Also save pop cans for St. Boniface building fund. Leave them at the home of Doug Debus in Zurich or John Jacobs in Hensall. The Zurich Scouts went camping in Goderich at the end of November with their leaders. They are look- ing forward to swimming in Vanastra Dec. 20. The United Church in Grand Bend held a yuletide evening Dec. 5. We really enjoyed hearing all the readers do A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. A member of the Blue Water Zurich Skating Club, Lee Ann Bechard, took part in the John McKay Invitational Skating Competition Nov. 27 in Mooretown. It was a nice evening for the parade in Zurich on Sunday. Lots of floats and people out to see them. John and Mary Jacobs of Hensall returned home recently after a nice three-week vacation with a group of people who went to Australia and the southern island of New Zealand. The next bank bus service to Hensall is Wed., Dec. 15 at 9:15 a.m. at Maplewoods and 9:30 a.m. from the main corner in Zurich. Welcome to town Welcome to town Ron and Sharon Groke to Johns Street South. Also Vonnie Overholt has moved into the Rau Manor Apartments. Theresa Stark is now a resident at the Blue Water Rest Home. There was a great turnout for the Zurich Lions Club turkey bingo last Wednesday—lots of lucky winners went home with a turkey. Share the wealth of $121 was won by Martha Risi. A jackpot of $250 was won by Cindy Denomme. Several boxes of chocolates were given out as door prizes. On Dec. 4 a breakfast with Santa was held at the Arc Industries in Dashwood with the proceeds going towards community betterment projects. Zurich Public School Students at the Zurich Public School are once again busy getting ready for their annual Christmas Concert 'A Christmas Collage' to be held Wed., Dec. ZURICH NEWS Book launch at Blyth Memorial Hall A new book, `Blyth Journeys — A Calendar of Musical Journeys' will be launched Dec. 9 at Blyth Memorial Hall with authors Rev. Eugen Bannerman and photographer Annette av Paul present to talk about the book's roots. Featuring beautiful photos of the land- scapes of Huron County and Perth County, the book includes stories inspired by the travels of Bannerman on his regular trips between Stratford and Blyth. "For each month fea- tured in the book, I've penned a special story to accompany Annette's beautiful photographs," says Bannerman. "The true joy of life is in the journey, and the music we hear along the way. Cenetta Bainton and her impact on the vil- lage of Blyth inspired me to write a special story about music and the wonderful spirit of Cenetta, a person known around the Blyth Festival as Lady Blyth." Bannerman is the minister of Blyth United Church and a retired professor at Ryerson University where he taught in the Department of Psychology. He is the author of `Street Names of Blyth.' Av Paul is a resident of Stratford and a for- mer Swedish Prima Ballerina who has per- formed widely in Canada and abroad. She continues to teach ballet in Toronto and directs the summer dance program at the Banff Centre. She is the granddaughter of the author Adolf Paul, a close friend of compos- er Jean Sibelius. `Blyth Journeys — A Calendar of Musical Journeys' is published by Blyth Printing and available at Blyth Festival for $15. 15 at 7 p.m. in the gym. Also their penny sale will run each school day from Mon., Dec. 13 to Wed., Dec. 15 at the concert. Admission to the concert is a canned goods item for the food bank at Blessings. Dress rehearsal for the concert is Tues., Dec. 14 at 11:30 a.m. The pub- lic are welcome to attend the dress rehearsal. The Zurich Public School choirs will be singing at the Blue Water Rest Home Wed., Dec. 8 for the resi- dents. They will also sing for Senior Diners the same day at the Zurich Complex. St. Boniface concert St. Boniface Christmas concert for all grades will be held at the church on Tues., Dec. 14 at 7 p.m., with dress rehearsal taking place at the church on Mon., Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. The children will be out of school for the holidays from Fri., Dec. 17 to Mon., Jan. 3, 2005. The next foot care clinic at Maplewoods Apartment is Mon., Dec. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at a cost of $10 per person. Bring your own towel. The Hay Telephone Communication staff Christmas dinner was held at Eddington's in Exeter Nov. 26. Happy birthday wishes to Stephanie Gelinas on Dec. 4 and Sandy Stephan on Dec. 5.
