Recycling + Composting + User Pay
Reduction
The implementation of user pay garbage in combination with the effective composting and recycling
programs has led to an overall reduction in the amount of waste produced by the Association's
member municipalities. In fact, these efforts made by residents have resulted in waste generation
rates that are among the lowest in Ontario. Households on average now only generate 200 kgs of
waste per year in comparison to 823 kg in 1988. We've certainly come a long way!
