This marked the end of another successful season for the club with membership growing again over last year. After a delicious beef dinner served by the Legion women, door prizes donated by local businesses and club mem- bers were handed out. Awards for the 2004 show season varied widely including jackets, sweaters, vests, belt buck- les, halters and saddle stands. After tallying the points from the four shows held this year, the resulting champion and runner-up were recognized in each class with prizes. Members placing third, fourth and fifth received certificates. Rider: Montana Riley; Jr. A Games: Krista Pettit; Sr. Games: Al Parsons. The club members voted at the last show to decide who would receive the fol- lowing two awards. Most - improved rider was Meghan Scotchmer and member of the year was tie with both Dave Broom and Clasina Geurts receiv- ing prizes. Keeper trophies award- ed for 2003 went to Patricia Brush for overall high point in performance, while Montana Riley received the trophy for overall high point for games. Overall high point per- formance 2004 went to Caitlin Dorssers and Montana Riley won the overall high point games title. The club also recognized the following members for their contributions to the club: Secretary Janet Hoggarth; Show Announcer Dave Jacobs, and John Geiger for tally- ing the point once again this year. A silent auction was car- ried out during the dance that followed, and mem- bers had the opportunity to bid on several donated prizes. SUMMARY TUESDAY The fed steers and heifers sold on a steady mar- ket. Choice steers and heifers sold 75 to 80 sales to 92.50, 2nd cut steers and heifers sold 72 to 74.The cows sold at prices $2 to $3 higher on a strong active trade. THURSDAY The veal sold at prices fully steady. The lambs sold steady on an active trade. FRIDAY All weights and classes of stockers sold on a steady market. STEERS There were 458 steers on offer. Mapleridge Farms, Brussels consigned four black steers averaging 1423 lbs which sold for an average price of 91.56 with sales up to 92.50. Six black steers consigned by Tobias Brubacher, Elmira averaged 1396 lbs which sold to Holly Park Meat Packers for 88. His overall offering of thir- teen steers averaged 1411 lbs selling for an average price of 85.46. Amos B. Frey, Wallenstein consigned twelve steer averag- ing 1416 lbs which sold for an average price of 81.45 with his top two limo steers averaging 1348 lbs selling for 87. HEIFERS There were 198 heifers on offer. Emerson L. Martin, Linwood consigned one limo heifer weighing 1350 lbs which sold for 92.25. His overall offering of twelve heifers averaged 1355 lbs selling for an average price of 86.62. Thirty-three heifers con- signed by Ron Dougall, Exeter averaged 1359 lbs which sold for an average price of 85.71 with his top two limo heifers averaging 1433 lbs selling for 89.75. Gilbert Janssen, Hanover consigned four limo heifers averaging 1308 lbs which sold for an average price of 79.83 with sales up to 82.75. COWS There were 251 cows on offer. His overall offering of two beef cows averaged 1265 lbs selling for an average price of 323.32. One limo cow consigned by Arnold Fischer, Goderich weighed 1400 lbs which sold for 29. His overall offering of two beef cows averaged 1288 lbs selling for an average price of 25.58. Tools stolen SOUTH HURON — On Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. OPP were contacted about a break-in to a shed located at the Greencare Nursery and Landscaping business on Pickard Road in Exeter. Sometime overnight a person entered an unlocked shed on the property and stole approximately $2,000 worth of tools. Some of the tools were made from Dewalt and Mastercraft and were mostly small hand items used in the carpentry business.
