SH Panthers girls hammer SCSS 7-1

EXETER — The Panther
girls hockey team opened
their season with a pair of
wins, starting with a hard
fought 6-5 win against
Madill Nov. 12 before a 7-
1 win at home against
Stratford Central Nov. 18.
The Panthers opened
the scoring in the first
period with a goal from
Kristin Ferguson before
Madill struck back with
two goals for a 2-1 lead
by the end of the period.
The teams continued to
trade goals in the second
with the Panthers getting
two from Emily Sararas
and one from Katie
Stewart.
But Madill replied with
three of their own for a 5-
4 lead going into the
third.
The Panthers struck
with two more from
Stewart in the final period
to come away with a 6-5
win.
Along with her three
goals, Stewart paced the
Panthers with three
assists for a six point
effort.
South Huron received
two assists from Sararas
and singles from Michele
Weber and Kristen
Hefley.
The Panthers came out
firing against SCSS and
never looked back on the
way to the 7-1 win, scor-
ing two in the first, three
goals in the second and
three more in the third.
Stewart again led the
offence with four goals
and a pair of assists.
Other goals came from
Kristin Reschke, Sararas
and Kristin Ferguson.
Picking up assists were
Leann Cronyn with a pair
and singles from Sararas,
Jessica Bickell and Hefley.

atom peewee tour-
nament held on the
weekend in Lucan.
The peewees defeat-
ed Belmont 3-0 and
Brantford 5-3 before
a 2-0 loss in the final
to Schomberg.
