New $400,000AgriSpirit Fund announced for rural organizations
OTTAWA — Cultural centres, children's playgrounds
and sporting facilities may be some of the capital pro-
jects in rural areas to get a boost from the new
$400,000 AgriSpirit Fund announced by Farm Credit
Canada.
According to a press release, the fund is designed to
enhance rural Canada for the people who live and work
in rural communities.
A maximum of $25,000 in funding is available to orga-
nizations for capital projects that benefit rural commu-
nities.
"We are committed to enhancing the communities
where our customers and employees live and work,"
said John Ryan, president and chief executive officer of
Farm Credit Canada. "There is an abundance of worthy
project ideas and motivated, passionate community vol-
unteers in Canada. The AgriSpirit Fund will help turn
these dreams into reality."
For your project to be considered for funding, it must:
• enhance the quality of life for people who live in
rural communities;
• be for a capital project (equipment, building funds,
etc.);
• be registered through the Canada Revenue Agency;
• allow Farm Credit Canada to put up a permanent
sign;
• be located in rural Canada (outside a city with more
than 100,000 people).

importance of rural communities and is offering funding
for capital projects which enrich our rural culture,"
Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MP Rose -Marie Ur said. "I do
hope that organizations in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex will
benefit from this program."
Community leaders across the country are encouraged
to review the eligibility criteria and apply for a portion of
the AgriSpirit Fund through the Farm Credit Canada
Web site at www.fcc-fac.ca, in the About Us section.
Only online applications will be accepted. Applicants
have until Jan. 15, 2005 to apply. The successful sub-
missions will be announced in early 2005.
