EXETER — The Exeter
Hawks closed the distance
on the division leading
Lucan Irish with a 4-3 win
Friday night in Exeter
despite a hat trick from
Lucan player Tyler
French.
The Hawks completed
the weekend action with a
3-1 win in Mt. Brydges
Nov. 13.
The wins give the Hawks
a 10-5-0-1 record and
they have picked up 13 of
their last 14 points.
The Irish opened the
scoring early in the first
before Nathan Regier tied
it and Scott Davies put
Exeter ahead with the first
of three straight power
play goals they would get
on the night.
Two goals in the second
less than a minute apart
on the power play staked
the Hawks to a 4-1 lead,
with Jason Stuckless and
Chad Deman finding the
net seconds apart.
Behind the bench for the
first time as assistant
coach for the Hawks was
Len Press who was for-
mally with the Strathroy
Rockets.
French cut the lead to 4-
2 with under a minute
remaining in the period
but it was all the Irish
could get until late in the
third when French com-
pleted his hattrick with
just over a minute remain-
ing, but the Hawks hung
on for the win.
Picking up assists for
Exeter were Deman and
Stuckless each with a pair
for three-point nights,
while Joe Nesbitt also had
two and singles came
from Larry Northover and
Matt Vlemmix.
Exeter was three for five
with the man advantage
while giving up one goal
on four Lucan chances.
Lucan outshot the Hawks
39-35.
Mark Read had two
assists for the Irish, with
singles from Jeff McLean

"Our power play has
been fantastic ... special
teams are a key part of
winning and losing and
our penalty killing has
been running at about 87
per cent and our power
play has been about 28
percent. So I'm pretty
happy with those."
Macnair added the
Hawks would like to add a
goal scorer and another
power forward. "If I could
find another guy like
Stuckless, I'll be very
happy."
Exeter has one game
