Marilyn Carter was in charge of the regular church service on Sunday morning. The Introit was sung and people greeted one another by shaking hands. Rev. Carter gave greet- ings and the announce- ments and led in the Call to Worship, Prayer of Approach and the Affirmation of Faith in uni- son. Quinn Rush lit the Christ Candle. Joyce Fulton and Sandra Rowe received the offering and were the greeters. Everyone read the Commissioning and Rev. Carter pronounced the Benediction. Sympathy extended Sympathy is extended to Grace Pym and family and to Sharon and Bob Pavkeje and family in the passing of Bernice MacFarlane on Wednesday, a sister to Grace and an aunt to Sharon and Bob. Beatrice Ballantyne, a mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great- grandmother, passed away this last week. May our thoughts and our prayers be with Ross and RIDE programs HURON — Police officers have been setting up RIDE Programs across Huron County, which have led to licence suspensions and liquor violations. On Nov. 13 at 12:15 a.m. a RIDE Program was set up 011 Bayfield Road in Goderich. A 54 -year-old male from Bluewater lost his licence for 12 hours after blowing a warn on the alcotest. During the same check others were issued liquor violations after open alco- hol was found inside vehi- cles. RIDE Programs were also set up in South Huron. On Nov. 14 at 1:15 a.m. on London Road in South Huron a 27 -year-old male from Bluewater lost his driver's licence for 12 hours and a 23 -year-old male was issued a liquor violation. Then 15 min- utes later another pro- gram was set up on Andrew Street in Exeter. This time a 38 -year-old male from South Huron had his driver's licence seized for 12 hours and a 41 -year-old female was issued a liquor ticket. Later that morning dur- ing a RIDE Program in Kirkton, two more people lost their driver's licences for 12 hours and more liquor violations were issued. Huron OPP advised motorists to use alterna- tive methods of getting home after drinking Alma Ballantyne and their family in the days ahead. Many people called at the Hopper Hockey Funeral Home on Monday to pay their respects. Nov. 21 Hensall United Church will be celebrating their anniversary at 10 a.m., with guest minister Rev. Charlie Love from Bayfield. Everyone is wel- come. Lunch will follow the service. Nov. 21 Swimming and Supper: swimming will take place at the Vanastra pool from 4 to 5 p.m. Supper will be at 6 p.m. The cut off date is Nov. 14. Adults $8, children 12 and under $5. This event is hosted by the Christian Education and Finance committees. Dec. 5 Bring items to church for the Christmas Bureau. UCW meeting The November meeting of the United Church Women was held recently with 33 women present. The Christian Development Committee was in charge of the meet- ing. Marjorie Johns wel- comed everyone and gave the theme: Remembrance and To Seek Justice and Resist Evil. Johns led in prayer. The women sang 0 God of All the Many Lands with Johns accompanying at the piano. Janet Coward lit a candle and read, No THAMES ROAD NEWS Alarm Sounded. Sandra Rowe lit a candle and read the Scripture, Deuteronomy 30:19b and Matthew 6:24. Rowe gave the Meditation. Shirley Kerslake lit a candle and read, Fair Trade. Everyone read a New Creed and a new version of The Lord's Prayer. The women sang May the God of Hope Go With Us. Rowe received the offering with prayer by Janet Coward. Rowe spoke about Remembrance Day and wearing a poppy. She also spoke about John McRae and read In Flanders Fields. Rowe led the women in a Remembrance poppy quiz. Johns closed with a read- ing entitled Violence. Judith Parker opened with a reading: Reflections. The UCW Purpose was repeated. Sharon Lynn announced all are invited to a com- munity shower for Shawna Rowe Wed., Nov. 24 at 8 p.m. at Thames Road-Elimville United Church. Please bring sandwiches or cookies/squares.
