OPP warns citizens about
prizes with price tags
HURON — Huron OPP recently responded to a report
from a woman who received a letter confirming an
award for a car.
Police say the complete form did not say the recipient
was an actual winner. It said her entry in a recent mail
competition was judged to be 100 per cent correct in
terms of all rules and regulations governing the award
of the prize. The recipient was confirmed and guaran-
teed eligible for the brand new 2004 Jeep Cherokee or
the cash alternative of $45,000. It also says a tie break-
ing puzzle form must be filled out and returned with
$25 for processing and judging fees. The rules on the
back of the form states the cost to compete in this con-
test is the fee stated on the entry form and there will be
a total of up to four tiebreakers in the contest. This
form is the first of four and the final delivery of the
prize will take place Sept. 30, 2006.
A legitimate prize does not have to be paid for. Read
