Capsule Comments
by Ernie Miatello
Sucralose is a sweetener that is about 600 times
as sweet as sugar. It is actually derived from
sugar (sucrose) and is made by chemically
replacing 3 oxygen -hydrogen groups with 3
chlorine atoms. The result is a very sweet, safe sweetener that is not
altered by high heat and passes through the body without being
changed. So it adds no calories and is safe for diabetics as well.
When you have a sore throat, you are often told to "gargle with salt
water". How much salt? How much water? The usual recipe is 1/4
teaspoonful to 250 m118 ounces) of water.
The eye is a transparent organ. Your doctor or eye specialist can tell
a lot about your health by looking through your eye onto the retina,
a delicate multi -layered area of specialized cells and blood vessels
at the back of the eye. Eye diseases, diabetes, blood pressure
problems and cholesterol problems can be found during eye
exams. Have you had your eyes checked lately?
We hear much about high blood pressure but many people have
low blood pressure. Some have systolic pressures (the upper
number in the reading) as low as 85. If there are no symptoms,
that's fine. Low blood pressure certainly decreases the risk of heart
attack and stroke. However, if there are symptoms of dizziness,
fainting and falling, see your doctor.
