RANGE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT
Interesting afternoon 28 Auctions Sales
for sorority members
By June Essery
EXETER - Thirteen
members of Beta
Alpha Master
Chapter of Beta
Sigma Phi met
on Oct. 15 for
lunch at
Eddington's.
A brief busi-
ness meeting
followed and
then members
went to the Village
Vines Florist. Natalie
Kerslake demonstrated
how to make a floral
arrangement for
Thanksgiving. Then the
group visited the RSD
Sport Den. Rosemary
Schaefer and Maude
Connon planned this
interesting afternoon.
On Oct. 20, the chap-
ter met at the home of
Ada Dinney. A row of
hand -carved lighted
pumpkins lit the path to
her door. Dinney and
Schaefer, wearing cat
masks, greeted every-
one. Witches, bats, spi-
ders and webs decorat-
ed Dinney's home. Each
member received a
mask to wear and some
trick -or -treat goodies.
Dinney introduced the
guest speaker, Mark
Catlin from Nairn, who
gave a presentation
about his great-grand-
father, Narcisse Catlin.
Narcisse was an entre-
preneur, inventor and
cattle trader. He
dreamed of making St.
Joseph's on Lake Huron
into a great city.
Mark's slides showed
the brick -making facili-
ties, hotel, organ facto-
ry, carriage house, ice
house, and other build-
ings. Unfortunately,
WWII interfered
with Narcisse's
plans to develop
the community
into a large city.
It was a very
interesting pre-
sentation about
part of the histo-
ry of Huron
County.
The Ways and Means
Committee held a draw
on a plant which was
won by Mary Jane
Taylor. A Halloween
word puzzle game was
played, and Pat
Patterson won a carved
pumpkin. Secret -pal
gifts for Halloween
were exchanged, fol-
lowed by a lovely lunch
served by the hostesses.
Lucky draw
winners
for Zurich
Diners
ZURICH - Marg Hayter
welcomed 26 Zurich
Diners. Glena Olcin sup-
plied the music for singing
of 0 Canada and the
grace before the meal
prepared by Mary
Korcinia and helpers
Audrey Smith, Doris
Hamilton, Elaine Weido
and Aleda Hendericks
The 50/50 draw was
won by Earl Flaxbard
while the flowers from the
garden of Olcin went to
Gwen McKellar, and
Marie Gelinas, and Gertie
Stade. Marj Reichert and
Olcin were at the desk.
Hayter had several
items on the table. Lucky
draw winners were
Flaxbard, Margaret
Ducharme, Dianne
Ducharme, Olivea Bedard,
Weido and Hamilton.
Olcin read a Halloween
story about Sleepy
Hollow. The meal was fol-
lowed by cards.
