HENSALL - The Sherwoods split their games on the weekend, winning 4-2 over the Tavistock Royals Friday night in Zurich, and play- ing to a 4-4 tie Saturday night in Hensall against the Elora Rocks. There was no scoring Friday until the 15 minute mark of the second period, when Mike Johnson took a pass from Chris McDonald to put the Sherwoods up 1-0. Jeff Glavin also assisted. Chris Downie made it 2-0 three forty-two into the third from Sean McCann. Eighteen seconds after that Jeremy Geoffrey made it 3-0, from Chris Kennedy and Jeff Finkbeiner. Tavistock cut the lead to 3-1 two minutes after that, with the teams playing four on four. Geoffrey got his second of the night 10 minutes into the period. Kennedy picked up the lone assist. Saturday in Hensall the Sherwoods held on for the tie as Elora outshot them 23-7 over the third period and the overtime. Kennedy led the Sherwoods with three goals, JR Davies had the other Hensall goal. Geoffrey, Johnson and Finkbeiner each had two assists, with Downie pick- ing up a single assist. Jay Evershed had the win in goal for Hensall. The Sherwoods had eight minor penalties, the Rocks had five. Each team had a fighting major while the Rocks had a player ejected for inter- fering from the bench. The Sherwoods have two games this weekend again. Friday they travel to Brussels for an 8 p.m. start and Saturday they host the Listowel Jets at 7:30 p.m. in Hensall.
