Another successful Rummage Sale
The South Huron Hospital Auxiliary's Rummage Sale, held every year in the fall and
spring, raised another $10,500 for hospital patient care last week at the South Huron
Rec Centre.Above are volunteers Marion Cann, left, and Anne Bray.At right, auction-
eer Norm Whiting offers his services for free every year at the Rummage Sale auction.
At right, the hospital auxiliary's first Rummage Sale was in May 1953 at the Exeter Co-
op building, raising $591.After moves to the Legion in 1954 and the old arena in 1975,
the Rummage Sale has been at the Rec Centre since 1977.A mainstay since the begin-
ning has been Exeter's Laura Sillery, now 92, who took her usual spot at last week's
Rummage Sale in the yard goods section. She said she enjoys volunteering for the aux-
iliary and meets many friends. She intends to keep volunteering as long as she's able.

Break-ins
EXETER — On Oct. 15 at 2:30 p.m. the OPP was
contacted about the first of two break-ins in
Exeter. The officer went to a Huron Street resi-
dence to learn someone entered an unlocked
garage overnight and walked away with $750
worth of Motocross equipment.
A pair of regal blue Fox Motocross pants, a jer-
sey, gloves and two black, white and silver HJC
helmets were stolen from the garage.
Earlier the same residence was affected when
someone entered the garage and stole the dirt
bike from the home.
Then on Oct. 18 at 8:45 p.m. a resident reported
a young male leaving his backyard. The man
checked his backyard and discovered the young
male had entered an unlocked shed on Wellington
Street and walked away with several bottles of
beer.
Huron OPP is continuing its investigation. If you
can help solve these crimes call the OPP or Crime
Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).
