(photo/Scott Nixon) POLICE BRIEFS Police encourage citizens to use Road Watch BLUEWATER — The OPP was recently contacted about a driving issue in the Bluewater area. The officer learned a couple was busy outside when a vehicle was seen driving erratically through a subdi- vision. The incident, which was not the first involving this vehicle in the neighbourhood, finally drew the cou- ple to speak with the driver. An argument broke out which could have turned nasty and resulted in some- one being hurt. Police say someone should have filled out the forms and sent them to the Road Watch Committee after the first incident. It would have been investigated and a warning letter sent. Don't try taking matters into your own hands. Contact the Road Watch Organization or call police. cooking with memories BY DEBBY WAGLER AN OLD FAMILY FAVORITE WHEN I WAS GROWING UP WAS SWISS STEAK. IT WAS ONE OF THOSE SLOW SIMMERING MEALS THAT YOU COULD LOOK FORWARD TO AFTER CHURCH ON SUNDAY. MY OWN FAMILY LIKES THIS STEAK WITH BAKED POTATOES. IT IS BEST WHEN COOKED SLOWLY AND CAN BE DONE IN THE SLOW COOKER IF YOU WANT TO PUT SOMETHING ON FIRST THING IN THE A.M. SWISS STEAK 2 lbs steak (outside or inside round work well) 1-2 onions peeled and quartered 3-4 carrots peeled and cut into Targe chunks I tsp salt I tsp pepper 2 cans tomato soup 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce Assemble all the ingredients in a suitable roaster and put in the oven at 325 deg. for a minimum of 3 hours. If you like you can substitute I can of diced tomatoes for I can of soup. /fusing a slow cooker have the meat thawed and put in on low for 8-9 hours or on high for 5-6 hours or as your slow cooker needs. Like I said this is great with oven roasted potatoes and is very comforting food! Enjoy. Picturesque windows, stone accents and a cross -rail porch give character to the exterior. Added street appeal is created by balancing the peak over the double garage with a similar roofline over the living room window and a decorative peak in between. The porch area is set back, allowing room for a flower -bed between the house and the walkway from the garage. Inside, the front foyer leads into a formal living room and dining room. Decorative pillars accent the entrance to this combined space, which is ideal for formal entertaining. The dining room has an optional buffet flanked by windows. The living room has a gas fireplace and a sloped ceiling over the window. A pocket door from the dining room leads to the kitchen where an angled work island/eating bar houses a double sink and the dishwasher. The raised side of the bar makes a great spot to enjoy a cup of coffee. The breakfast nook has plenty of room for a dining table and chairs. Double doors off the nook open to a spacious back yard patio. The adjoining family room has a corner fireplace and windows overlooking the patio. The master bedroom suite is privately placed at the back of the house. It includes a three-piece ensuite bathroom and a walk-in closet. The second and third bedrooms share the main three-piece bathroom. Cupboards for linen storage and for the furnace and hot water tank are found in the main hallway, easily accessed from the laundry room. The double garage has a door to the side yard. It also has a door leading directly into the house, through the laundry. This single -level house measures 56 feet, 8 inches wide by 46, 4 inches deep and has 1,620 square feet of living space.
