POLICE BRIEFS
Hit and run collision
SOUTH HURON — Huron OPP was called to an
Algonquin Drive residence in Huron Park to
respond to a hit and run collision Oct. 15 at 7:45
a.m.
According to police, a green 1998 Ford Escort
was parked in a driveway when someone drove
into the side of the vehicle overnight and dam-
aged the entire side.
The officer looked at a red 1995 Mustang also
parked in the driveway and determined it was the
vehicle responsible for the damage since it had
damage on the passenger side door and the mir-
ror was removed.
Police say no one would admit who was driving
the vehicle when the damage occurred.
A further check of the Mustang found the Val
Tag had been altered. As a result the plates were
seized and a 26 -year-old female from London has
been summoned to attend court for charges of
permitting the use of defaced validation. The
investigation continues.
cooking with memories
BY DEBBY WAGLER
THE FALL IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE TIMES OF THE YEAR IN THE
KITCHEN. WE CAN PULL OUT THE SLOW COOKERS, THE
SOUPS AND STEWS AND HAVE SOME GOOD COMFORT FOOD!
ONE OF THE FAVORITE SOUPS AT OUR HOUSE COMES FROM A
MARY MOORE COOKBOOK THAT I GOT EARLY IN OUR
MARRIAGE. THREE OF MY KIDS WILL MAKE A MEAL OF THIS
WITH SOME WARM FRESH BREAD. ENJOY.
EASY FRENCH ONION SOUP
4 cups sliced Spanish onion
1/4 cup butter
6 cup boiling water (used first to blanch onions and then
reserved for broth)
6 beef bouillon cubes FOR
1saltTHE
1/4
tpsP ePPeY
1/2 tsp garlic powder
grated mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese with
bread cubes or croutons to do a final bake of the soup
Cut the onion in thin slices and blanch in boiling water for 5
min. Drain and reserve water. In a large pot saute onion in
butter, stirring, until limp but not browned. Add the water,
bouillon and seasonings. Simmer about 25 minutes. Put the
soup in French onion soup bowls cover with bread and
mozzarella cheese and then sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
Broil till golden and bubbling. Enjoy a great soup on a cool
fall evening.
Harry Jeffrey.
The food was prepared

helpers Cecelia Farwell,

Hayter, Doris Jantzi, and
