Pack a gift for Operation Christmas Child
Christmas may be a cou-
ple months away, but
already thousands of kids
and their families are
thinking about their lists -
not for what they can get,
but what they can give.
Through Operation
Christmas Child, a kids -
helping -kids project,
Canadian kids, families,
churches, schools, and
civic organizations are
preparing gift -filled shoe
boxes to be hand -deliv-
ered to children who are
suffering from war, terror-
ism, disease, natural dis-
aster, and famine this
Christmas season.
Why now - months
before the holiday season?
Like a child's compas-
sion, Operation Christmas
Child, the world's largest
children's Christmas pro-
ject, is not limited to the
month of December. It is a
massive year-round effort
to bring hope and joy to
millions of needy kids liv-
ing in some of the most
desperate conditions on
earth.
What gifts are in the
shoe boxes? Toys, school
supplies, hygiene items,
non-perishable candy and
include a hand-written
message of encourage-
ment for hurting children
who, in some cases, will
be receiving their very
first gift through Operation
Christmas Child.
In 2004, a projected 7
million shoe boxes will be
collected across Canada
and from 10 other coun-
tries to be hand -delivered
to the disadvantaged chil-
dren around the world,
where conflict, poverty,
famine, and war are a
