Main Street South, Exeter, in order to consider a
proposed Development Charges By -Law under
Section 12 of the Development Charges Act, 1997.
Purpose and Effect:
Over the last several months, Council has
undertaken a development charges study and
prepared a draft by-law that will apply to new
development throughout the municipality.

development that increases the need for municipal

the by-laws currently in place and will be valid for up
to five years. Development charges will apply to both
new residential and non-residential development.
Non-residential development includes commercial,
industrial, institutional and farm buildings. The
charge does not apply to the expansion of an
existing industrial building where the expansion is
less than 50% of the existing gross floor area. Other
buildings or structures which will be exempted from
the charge include accessory uses such as a garage,
storage building, garden shed, swimming pool and
any non-residential building less than 10 m2 (107.6
ft.2).
ANY PERSON may attend the public meeting and/or
make written or verbal representation either in
support of or in opposition to the proposed
