EXETER - The Exeter
Hawks split a pair of
games on the weekend,
edging the Lucan Irish 5-
4 Friday night in Exeter
before suffering their
first loss of the season,
taking a 7-1 pounding in
Thamesford Oct. 9.
Lucan was coming off a
4-1 win Sept Oct. 6
against North Middlesex
but the Hawks jumped
out to a lead they would-
n't surrender with three
goals in the first period.
Exeter got on the board
early with the first of two
in the period from Justin
LaPorte, wrapped
around a power play
marker from Dan Moir.
LaPorte's second goal
came with just nine sec-
onds remaining in the
period.
Lucan got back in the
game in the second peri-
od with a pair of goals
starting with a power
play goal off the stick of
Trevor Medeiros before
Dan Crowley cut the lead
to one.
But the Hawks restored
the two -goal lead before
the period was over with
a marker from Jason
Stuckless.
Just over two minutes
into the third, Matt
Vlemmix would get what
would prove to be the
winner, cashing in after a
scramble around the
Irish net.
Lucan refused to quit
however, making it a
two -goal margin with a
solo effort by Medeiros,
as he cut across the
Exeter net before stuffing
it past goalie Justin
Hayter.
With just over a minute
left, Lucan made it a 5-4

game with a goal from
Tyler French but it was
as close as they would
get despite pulling their
goalie.

the Hawks were Nathan
Regier and Joe Nesbitt
each with a pair and sin-
gles from Brandon
Wedlock, Jamie Wolfe,
Daryl Bourne, Dan Moir,
Chad Deman and Justin
Young.
Medeiros had a three-
point in the loss for
Lucan, with an assist to
go with his two -goal
effort.
Other point getters for
Lucan were Andrew
Lang, Aaron Whitcomb,
Derek Liddle, Tyson
Dejong and Mark Read.
