Queensway will host
Octoberfest party
HENSALL - Oct. 3 family and friends visited
Queensway to enjoy Thanksgiving meals with their
loved ones. The beautiful, sunny fall weather provided
great driving conditions for those travelling from a dis-
tance.
After consultation with both residents and their fami-
lies a few years ago, the decision was made to schedule
the holiday family meal at Thanksgiving rather than
Christmas. Everyone has found it to be a very positive
change to not worry about the weather or flu season.
Family will be welcome Sat., Dec. 18 from 2 p.m. to 3
p.m. for the resident Christmas party with John and
Geneva Heaman. At any other time families are wel-
come to call and book a time to dine with their loved
ones.
Ministers providing worship services recently were
Pastor Elly Van Bergen on Sept. 28 and Pastor Fred
Darke Oct. 5. Pastor Darke assisted by Marg Cole
administered communion at the Oct. 5 service.
Gladys Van Egmond provided a lively evening of music
in the retirement home lounge Oct. 1 as she played
familiar tunes on the piano with residents singing along
to many of them.
The Gospel Singers (formerly the Christian Reform
Singers) are back for the season, singing the first
Tuesday evening of each month.
Queensway volunteer auxiliary met Oct. 5 and pre-
viewed the October calendar. Several were thanked for
their assistance with the family Thanksgiving dinners.
Throughout the past two weeks residents benefitted
from breakfast group, manicures, coffee and current
events, pet therapy, massage, music therapy, and exer-
cises.

Company truck damaged
EXETER — On Oct. 4 at 11 a.m. the OPP was alerted
to damage done to a truck while sitting in a municipal

in Exeter.
Someone parked a five -ton company truck in the lot
and sometime over the weekend someone sprayed
black paint on the vehicle. The side of the truck had a
five -leaf marihuana leaf, the number 420 and `let's
rock' painted on it. The actual cost of the repairs is
unknown.
If you can help police solve this crime, call the local
OPP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS).

TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
EXETER — There will be something to appeal to
anyone's tastes at the second annual Time, Talent and
Treasure Auction at the South Huron Rec Centre Oct.
15. The event, which is planned by the Community
Living -South Huron Auxiliary, will see 100 per cent of
the proceeds going to the clients for their needs and
extras.
Throughout September members of the auxiliary,
which is made up mainly of friends and family of the
clients, have been canvassing the area for donations.
"We have been overwhelmed with the generosity
shown to the project," Donna Greb said. "We received
more than we ever dreamt."
Among the items to be featured are a framed
Edmonton Oilers home jersey signed by Wayne
Gretzky with a certificate of authenticity, a hockey
stick Muskoka chair signed by Walter Gretzky, a
signed Wayne Gretzky print, accommodations for two
to four people to enjoy a week-long trip to anywhere in
the world and an encased baseball signed by players,
including Joe Carter.
For a full list of items drop by the rec centre at 4 p.m.
for viewing. The silent and live auction will begin at
5:30 p.m. with the help of auctioneers Bob Heywood
and Anne and Brad Mousseau.
According to Greb, there have been twice as many
donations this year and the goal is to raise $16,000.
Last year's total was approximately $12,000.
Barb Consitt said it was easier this year to approach
people for donations since they were already aware of
last year's successful event.
Greb and Consitt want to thank everyone who has
supported the event with their time, services and
donations. The food booth will be operated by the ARC
kitchen staff.
She added the auxiliary, which has more than 70
members, has been having a good time preparing for
the event.
