Lunch will be served at 12 noon. Following lunch everyone will hear music from the HENSALL "Good News Four" quar- tet. All are welcome to this luncheon, held on the third Thursday of each month. Caven Church welcomes guest EXETER - Exeter's Caven Presbyterian Church is extremely honoured to have Peter Garland as guest speaker for its anniversary service to be held Oct. 24 at 10:30 a.m. Garland is no stranger to many area radio listeners. His broadcasting career began in Stratford in 1970 and following a move to London two years later, he hosted morning shows on stations CKSL and CFPL for some 30 years. Garland's community service in lead- ership roles has been outstanding over the years as well. He has served for 12 years on the board of directors for the London and Area Food Bank and has been very involved with various aspects of Jesse's Journey. Caven Church extends a warm wel- come to all visitors who wish to join the celebration and share Garland's mes- sage. Granton -Wesley first anniversary Oct. 17 By Muriel Lewis GRANTON CORRESPONDENT GRANTON - At the Granton - Wesley United Church on Oct. 3, lay pastor Val Hodgins led the commu- nion service and the mes- sage was entitled 'A Seed of Faith'. The lessons were from 2 Timothy 1 and Luke 17. Morgan Toll lit the Christ Candle and Mary Waters gave the minute for mis- sions. The choir sang Rejoice in the Lord. Unit UCW 3 hosted the muffin social before the service. The General UCW quar- terly meeting will be held at the church on Oct. 12. GRANTO Progressive euchre card party Oct. 26 By Carmel Sweeney ZURICH CORRESPONDENT ZURICH - Once again for the winter months, the Emmanuel United Church women in Zurich are hav- ing "Coffee and Muffin Time" every Tuesday morning in the downstairs church hall, from 10 to 11 a.m. Everyone is most wel- come to attend. The Annual District #8 Agricultural Society din- ner meeting will be held on Tues., Oct. 26 in Hensall at the Community Centre. Supper is at 7 p.m. $20 a person. The monthly birthday party at the Blue Water Rest Home in Zurich is hosted by the St. Boniface Catholic Women's League on Oct. 20 at 2:30 p.m. Members are asked to come out to sing a few songs for the residents and wear a red hat. Congratulations to Joe and Amy Gelinas of Grand Bend on the recent arrival of their second son, Brodie John who was born in September. Rick and Cathy Skinner and family have recently moved into their newly built home in the Parkside Subdivision. St. Boniface CWL Living Rosary will be held in the church before mass on Tues., Oct. 19 followed by a meeting in the parish hall. Audrey Smith and Bridget Groot are in charge. Members of the Sweeney ZURIC family enjoyed Thanksgiving together on Saturday and Sunday at the Boyle farm in St. Augustine. Michele Gelinas returned home to Vancouver British Columbia on Oct. 7 after spending the past three weeks with her relatives. The Village of Zurich community was saddened to hear of the sudden death of Pat Haggitt on Oct. 4, the son of George and Mary. The Blue Water Community Center was filled to capacity on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 7 when approximately 400 people gathered from far and near for the memorial service with Reverend Greg Girard of Clinton. J. M. McBeath Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. May we offer our sincere sympathy to all of his family. The bus to Bank of Montreal, Hensall will be leaving Oct. 13 from the Blue Water Rest home at 9:15 a.m. and Hay Mutual Insurance at 9:25 a.m. It is offered free. T h e Harvest Thanksgiving service was held at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Kirkton on Oct. 3. Rev.
