SAINTSBURY CORRESPONDENT
SAINTSBURY - St. Patrick's Saintsbury Anglican
Church Women have received their invitation to the
Perth Deanery fall meeting to be held at SAINTSBURY NEWS
St. Paul's, Kirkton with coffee, dessert
and registration at 6:30 p.m., holy eucharist at 7
p.m., followed by guest speaker, Rosemary Schaefer
(her topic: The Quilt Project) on Thurs., Oct. 21.
Recently Hazel Davis was invited to St. Paul's
Cathedral for a reception and fundraiser for Aster
Tsegage, a friend who has been the receptionist at
the Diocesan Synod office in London since 1990 and
will be retiring Oct. 8.
Tsegage is giving up everything to return to her
homeland of Ethiopia to work in the Gethsemane
Orphanage run by the Sisters of Gethsemane. When
she returns to Canada she will pursue her vocational
calling. Each of her friends presented her with gifts
of money for food and clothes and St. Patrick's ACW
also contributed. We all wish her God's blessings as
she begins her new life.
Ron and Margaret Carroll and a
number of area neighbours were guests Saturday at
the wedding of Ryan Carroll and Lynn Cowdrey held
at Lucan United Church with reception at the Lucan
Community Centre.
Lorne and June Daer of New Hamburg were
Saturday dinner guests with Hugh and Hazel Davis
and at 7:30 p.m. the Daers and Hugh Davis were
guests at the Lucan Community Centre for a get-
together with former Lucan-Ilderton Jets and to
watch the new, revived Lucan-Ilderton Jets hockey
team (WOAA senior league) play their first game of
the season against Wingham Spitfires. It was a won-
derful evening of visiting and reminiscing. Thanks to
Rob Andrews for remembering everyone.
Hugh and Hazel enjoyed lunch on Thursday with
Ralph and Joyce Simpson.
St. Patrick's will celebrate Evening Prayer on
Thanksgiving weekend.
Congratulations to John and Joyce Dickey who
along with 16 family members completed the walk
or run on Sunday for the Canadian Breast Cancer
Foundation from Exeter raising $2,000. Family
members were from London, Centralia, Exeter,
Arkona and Lucan. Congratulations for a job well
done.
Out of the Blue...
The Bluewater Recycling Association is proud to report that out of the bluebox you have managed
to reduce the waste generated in the area by over 70%. As a matter of fact, the Association has been
recognized by the Recycling Council of Ontario each of the last seven years for having the highest
waste diversion in the Province. We would like to congratulate everyone for such a recycling effort. utedatiofteri
