was celebrated. It has
been 105 years since the
building of our church by
the Presbyterian congre-
gation and 79 years
since the union of the
Presbyterian, Methodist
and Congregational
Churches forming the
United Church of
Canada.
Pastor Van Bergen's
message was on
`Mustard Seed Power'.
The choir sang He
Touched Me and Lord
Build Me a Cabin.
A special memorial
dedication was presented
by clerk of the session,
Sharon Chuter, dedicat-
ing the new carpet in the
sanctuary in memory of
Bert Coleman, Wilfred
Chuter, Mabel Reid and
Beatrice Taylor. Heather
Laurie shared her gift of
music during the offer-
ing.
The Stephenson Steps
completed their walk for
the cure of breast cancer
and raised $850 and
would like to thank
everyone who supported
them.

HENSALL - At Hensall United Church
the greeter was Ross Riley with Bill
Gibson and Les Hills receiving the offer-
ing. The organist was Agnes Bray.
Pastor Fred Darke conducted the com-
munion service assisted by
Cecil Pepper, Ross Kercher,
Jerry Traquair, Les Hills,
and Steven Troyer. The Christ Candle
was lit by Kathy Mann. Maim also read
the Scripture. Pastor Darke's message:
The Bag Lady. Denise Troyer and Mona
Alderdice were the nursery attendants.
Rev. Gwen Brown was the guest min-
ister and also conducted communion
service at Carmel Presbyterian Church.
Rev. Brown was assisted by Robert
HENSA
Taylor and Al Hoggarth. Joyce Pepper
was the organist with Hoggarth and
Harry Smith receiving the offering.
The Bank of Montreal will host a hot-
dog and drink lunch on Oct. 8 from 11
a.m. to 2 p.m. in aid of the food bank.
An added bonus is the chance to throw a
cream pie at the branch manager—help
us cream hunger.
The deadline to register
for the annual village
Halloween decorating contest is Oct. 22.
Call 262-2715 to register. There are
separate categories for residences and
businesses. The top three winners in
each category will receive prizes of $25,
$20, and $15. This event is sponsored by
the Hensall and Community
Horticultural Society.

Nicaragua.

Varna Crokinole Club
begins for the season on
Tues., Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.
in the Varna church.
Anyone interested in
playing crokinole can
come out that night or

more information. The
club is always looking for
more players. Come on
out and enjoy.
