POLICE BRIEFS
SOUTH HURON - On
Sept. 25 shortly after mid-
night an OPP officer was
at the north end of Exeter
when a southbound
Mercedes Benz was seen
travelling at a high rate of
speed.
The vehicle was travel-
ling through a control
traffic light intersection at
speeds indicated above
100 km/h in a 50 -km/h
zone. The officer followed
the vehicle and observed
the driver pass two vehi-
cles on the right side in
the next couple of blocks.
The officer activated the
cruiser roof lights, but
instead of stopping the
driver turned off on a side
street and attempted to
lose the officer by driving
down several side streets.
The driver turned down a
dead end street, drove
across a lawn and side-
swiped a Hydro trans-
former before coming to a
stop.
The 20 -year-old driver
of London has been
charged with dangerous
operation of a motor vehi-
cle and flight from a
police officer. He will
attend court in Exeter
Nov. 25.
