There is a free-will offer- ing. Patti Hunt could use volunteer helpers in the auditorium that day to set up the tables and serve the refreshments. It is not too late to come out and bowl on Monday nights at 7 p.m. in Zurich on the ladies league. Newcomers to town are especially welcome—make some new friends. Tickets available Tickets for the Seaforth Harmony Kings barber- shop variety show at Seaforth High School are now available at 238-2973 for Sat., Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. or Sun., Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults or $6 for children under 12. A family get-together was held at the home of Beth and Joe Boyle of Grand Bend on Sept. 19 to celebrate the third birth- day of son James. Carmel Sweeney and daughter Heather Klopp travelled to Windsor on Sunday to help my mother Jeanne Bedard celebrate her 83rd birthday on Sept. 21 along with my sisters and their families. The fifth annual Couples Charity Golf Tournament was held on Sept. 19 at the Bayview Golf Course to raise money for the St. Joseph Hospital (N.I.C.U.) London which was hosted by the Masse twins, Dominick and Dylan and their parents. There is no school on Fri., Sept. 24 as it is a P.A. Day. Bob and Betty Kirk spent a few days away last week at Mackinac Island. Exercise class The weekly exercise class for seniors will begin again on Wed., Oct. 6 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Blue Water Community Centre with a cost of $2 a person each time you attend. The class is under the direction of Betty Kirk. It is great way to keep in shape—not too strenuous—and is lots of fun. There is plenty of room so come out and join the group. Both men and women are welcome. The fall regional Catholic Women's League Deanery meeting will be held in Dublin on Wed., Sept. 29. Registration at 8 a.m. at St. Patrick's parish hall with a cost of $5. Call Joan Regier 236-4289 if you want to go. Stamps and eye glasses can be brought to the church. Life Chain The Life Chain for the Unborn will be held in Stratford on Sun., Oct. 3 from 2 to 3 p.m. along the sidewalk. Bring a folding chair. Signs will be avail- able there. The Golden Agers are having their first fall pro- gressive euchre card party at the Zurich Complex (no steps) on Mon., Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. with a cost of $3 at the door. Last Saturday the Blue Water Skating Club hosted a program assistants' day at their new complex with 10 clubs and 53 partici- pants attending from vari- ous places. Skating lessons Skating lessons will be starting on Sat., Oct. 2 in Zurich. If anyone still wants to join, call presi- dent Mary Becker as soon as possible at 237-3628. All ages are welcome— young, old, men and women. There are open- ings with var- ious groups. There is a free tryout day on Sat., Oct. 30, so get your skates out and ready. Scouting Registrations are now being taken for the Scouting groups, boys and girls. Contact Lee Desjardine 236-4634 or Carol Prang 236-4661 as soon as possible. The fees increase after Oct. 8. Scouts start on Oct. 4, Cubs on Oct. 5 and Beavers on Oct. 6. Call for time and place. More vol- unteers are also needed to help out with the chil- dren. Congratulations to Peter and Patti Welsh of RR 2, Zurich on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary on Sept. 22. Buck and doe A buck and doe was held for Mike Cyr and Colleen Overholt on Sept 18 at the Zurich Arena Complex with several rela- tives and friends attend- ing. She is the daughter of Helen Overholt and Mike is the son of Marie Cyr - Whitney all of Zurich. The couple are to be married on Oct. 9. Congratulations to Mike and Wendy Masse (nee Meidinger) of RR 3, Zurich who celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Sept. 15. A surprise party was held for them Sept. 12 at the Hay Township Hall. Congratulations to Laurie and Jim Dickins of Zurich on the arrival of their second son, Scott, born on Sept. 10 Also congratulations to new parents Christine and Shawn Grainger of Zurich on the arrival of their daughter Madison Olivia who was born on Sept. 14. Proud grandparents are Jim and Norma Grainger. Rob and Christa Ducharme spent the weekend in Peterborough visiting her twin sister, Colleen and Ian Smyth and new baby, Laura born on Sept. 7. Lutheran Church The Lutheran Church Ladies enjoyed their first meeting of the fall with lunch at Erb's Country Kitchen on Sept. 14 fol- lowed by dessert and social at the Meidinger Club house. Vaccination clinic The rabies vaccination clinic for cats and dogs will be held at the Zurich Veterinarian Hospital on Wed., Sept. 29, 2 to 5 p.m. and on Sat., Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost of $20 per animal and you must have them on a leash or in a cage. Park at the back of the clinic. Foot care clinic The next foot care clinic at Maple Woods Apartment is Mon., Oct. 4, 8:30 a.m. to noon with a cost of $10. Bring your own towel. Charlie and Joan Regier and Butch and Helen Regier enjoyed a few days away last week on their annual fishing trip up north. ZURICH NEWS Police briefs EXETER — Huron OPP was contacted over a fire in an alleyway off the Main Street of Exeter Sept. 13 at approximately 9:45 p.m. The officer went to the alleyway located behind Sew Fine Fabrics where the Exeter Fire Department had respond- ed and put out the fire. Debris and loose garbage including a mat- tress and paper material had been set on fire that night between 9:15 p.m. and 9:35 p.m. A witness in the area spotted a group of teenagers in the vicinity at about the time of the fire. BLUEWATER — On Sept. 13 the OPP respond- ed to a report of break-in at property on Dashwood Road in Bluewater owned by the Municipality of South Huron. Sometime over the past weekend someone forced open a window to a build- ing belonging to the ceme- tery board. An 18 cubic foot McLeary refrigerator, an Echo 440 chainsaw, a Simoniz 1400 pressure washer, an MTD 21" push lawnmower and a pair of orange chap pants were stolen. Tracks at the scene indicate they were loaded Forthcoming Marriage Fred & Ann Zwaan of Woodham announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter Andrea Nicole to Joseph Joshua Meinen, son of Betty Meinen of Mitchell & the late Henry Meinen. The wedding is to take place on Sat., Sept, 25 at 3:30 pm at the Exeter Christian Reformed Church. Friends & family are invited to join in their celebra- tion at the Kirkton Community Centre at 9 pm. into a waiting vehicle. EXETER — On Sept. 16 at 9:45 a.m. the OPP was contacted over a smashed window at the Four Seasons Jewelers located on the Main Street of Exeter. Sometime between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m. someone smashed the glass in the door at the business. No entry took place and the window screen was still in place.
