(photo/PatBolen) 4-2 loss for Exeter Fury ST. THOMAS — The Exeter Fury continued to struggle Saturday in St. Thomas by dropping a 4-2 deci- sion on the road. The Fury were con- trolling the play in the first half and took the lead when Pete McAllister managed to get his head on the ball and direct it toward the net. Marty DeBruyn was there to push it across the line for the 1-0 lead. But Exeter continued to have trouble holding onto a lead. A turnover in the defen- sive end resulted in St. Thomas making the score 1-1 shortly after the Fury had taken the lead. DeBruyn notched his second of the game after a good play by Ryan Carroll and McAllister. The Fury were unable to maintain their lead when St. Thomas scored another goal almost immediately after. A few minutes later defender Joe Forrester blocked a hard shot with his shoulder that was des- tined for the open net to keep the game tied. The home team finally took the lead for good before half time and con- tinued to get stronger as the game pro- gressed. St. Thomas hit a crossbar and two posts in the second half or else the score would have been worse. Even when St. Thomas had a player ejected in the second half, the Fury were unable to mount any form of attack on offence. The loss drops the Fury record to 4-9-4 and they will need a win Sunday at Marty DeBruyn home against Woodstock to avoid being relegated to Third Division next sea- son. The kickoff is at 4 p.m. Marty DeBruyn will attempt to clinch the Second Division scoring title as he holds a five goal cushion as of Sept. 12. "We're going to come out hard on Sunday and get those three points," said Fury spokesman Jason McFalls. "There may be quite a few changes in the make- up of next year's team but we will worry about that after Sunday's contest," McFalls added. 41( MUNICIPALITY OF BLUEWATER BAYFIELD -HAY HENSALL STANLEY - ZURICH 2001 SNOW REMOVAL QUOTES Quotes are for loading and hauling snow in the Wards of Bayfield, Hensall & Zurich Plowing of Municipal lanes and lots in the Ward of Bayfield Sidewalk plowing on Bayfield Main St. at north -Ward of Bayfield Closing Date for quotes is September 24, 2004 at 12 noon Separate forms are available at the Municipal Office at 14 Mill Ave..
