POLICE BRIEFS
Drinking and
driving charges
SOUTH HURON - On Sept. 4
at about 3:30 a.m. an officer
was patrolling Airport line in
South Huron when a vehicle was
seen weaving in its lane.
The officer stopped a 1991,
Isuzu finding a driver showing
signs of alcohol consumption.
The driver failed a roadside test.
The driver was then arrested for
driving a motor vehicle with
over 80 mgs and taken to Grand
Bend for breath tests. The
results indicated the person was
two times the required drinking
levels to drive. A 45 year-old
Bluewater man will attend court
in Exeter Oct. 28.
Officers were called to a sin-
gle -vehicle crash Sept. 5 at 1:45
a.m.
The officers found that a black
Oldsmobile Cutlass had left
Grand Bend Line near the inter-
section of Bullock Line in South
Huron, striking a tree. An offi-
cer arrested the driver for
impaired driving after finding
several symptoms of impair-
ment. The driver was taken for
breath tests and found to be
about three times the legal limit.
A 33 -year-old London man has
been charged with impaired dri-
ving, driving a motor vehicle
with over 80 mgs and failing to
comply with undertaking. He
will attend court in Exeter Nov.
25.
The last case happened at 3
a.m. on Old River Road in
Bluewater Sept. 5. An officer
observed a small black Ford
Ranger pickup truck leave the
side street and turn onto
Bluewater Highway near
Bayfield. The driver had been
drinking early and was given
the roadside test that he failed.
The driver was taken for breath
tests that found him to be just
below the level of criminal
charges being laid. A 28 -year-
old man from South Huron was
issued a 12 -hour license suspen-
sion and had his vehicle towed
to a local garage.
