9/11 service was held at

on Sunday. The
Council of the
Municipality of Bluewater
has established an annual
Day of Remembrance for
all local volunteer fire-
fighters, emergency ser-
vice personnel and law
enforcement officers. As
we mark this anniversary
let us remember our own
local heroes who protect
us everyday throughout
the year.

Announcements followed
by the Call to Worship and
the Opening Prayer.

HENSALL - Tuesday morning Queensway volunteer
auxiliary met to discuss the upcoming events for
September as well as the family Thanksgiving meals
scheduled for Sun., Oct. 3. Nursing home residents and
guests will dine at noon and retirement home residents
will dine at 5:30 p.m. Family and friends may call 262-
2830 ext. 225 to reserve. Tickets are priced at $10 and
residents may each have up to three guests. To ensure
tickets please reserve by Sept. 24.
Lori Crawford, lay pastor from Faith Tabernacle in
Centralia led worship Tuesday with Belva Fuss as vol-
unteer pianist. A large group of residents were out to
hear her sermon.
Paula and her pet -therapy dog Popcorn were a wel-
come sight Wednesday morning. In the afternoon,
Marg Cole organized the euchre games with three
tables of enthusiasts enjoying the competition.
Coffee and Current Events passed the morning quick-
ly as residents sipped their favorite brew while dis-
cussing the news in the daily and weekly papers. In the
evening, Senior Diners met over a delicious meal and
good conversation. Sunday afternoon, musician Dennis
Rodgers played a variety of music on saxophone, accor-
dion and piano for the residents' enjoyment.
Thursday and Friday the accreditation surveyor visit-
ed Queensway to meet with focus groups in order to
complete a survey. Residents, family members and
community partners all participated in the focus
groups, answering the surveyor's questions and helping
her get a picture of the Queensway community.

Licence suspensions
SOUTH HURON — On Sept. 6 two people were
stopped and issued 12 -hour licence suspensions in
South Huron. The first stop took place at 8 p.m. on the
Main Street of Exeter when a Toyota was pulled over. A
23 -year-old female from Easthope Township blew a
warn on the roadside device.
Next at 11 p.m. a Pontiac van was stopped on Babylon
Line. A 57 -year-old male from Windsor lost his licence
for the next 12 hours and had his vehicle towed to a
local garage.

Helping doctor recruitmen
South Huron Hospital's doctor recruitment efforts got a $5,000 boost from Gary
Bean Securities last week, after the company made a donation with proceeds
raised from its fourth annual charity golf tournament, held Aug. 27 at Ironwood
Golf Club. From left are South Huron Hospital foundation chairperson Olga
Davis, Gary Bean, Suzanne Mathers of Gary Bean Securities, hospital clinical site
leader Maureen Cole and hospital board chairperson Glenn Bartlett. Bartlett said
the hospital appreciates Gary Bean's support of the hospital's recruitment work.

Reduce the Risk of West Nile Virus
As the days get shorter and cooler, mosquitoes
are still present and precautions are necessary.
How to prevent mosquitoes bites:
• Take precautions outdoors, especially in early morning and early
evening, when mosquitoes are most active.
• Wear light-coloured clothing and cover up whenever possible.
• Use insect repellent containing 10% DEET or less.
What is the County doing?
The County of Huron has a West Nile Virus Advisory Committee
and a program to monitor birds and mosquitoes for West Nile
Virus.
What can you do?
• Stay informed about West Nile Virus.
• Report sightings of dead crows and blue jays to the Health Unit.
• Drain the rain on your home, cottage and business property.
