Antique and Oak Furniture
opens London location

St. JOSEPH — Antique and Oak Furniture is celebrat-
ing the grand opening of a London location Saturday at
the Crossroads Centre on the corner of Wellington and
Exeter Road.
Co-owner Henry Martens said the venture into
London is in response to customer demand.
The company, which developed from a fruit stand in
Grand Bend 19 years ago, has evolved to the state-of-
the-art finishing facility in St. Joseph and locations in
Sarnia and Windsor.
Martens, who runs the company with the help of his
brother, Andrew and their partner, Joe Mommersteeg,
said it all started when his father, Martin, began selling
antiques and then moved into solid wood furniture
manufactured by Mennonite suppliers. Although he is
now retired, he still builds toy chests for the company.
Martens said if the London location does well, it is
likely there will be more locations in the future.
"This venture will determine where we're heading,"
he said.
According to Martens, Antique and Oak Furniture is a
different kind of company because customers can
depend on coming first.
All of the furniture is made of solid wood with no
veneers.
Customers can fit their purchases to their needs, pur-
chasing individual pieces and mixing matching sets.
"They can buy what they really want," he said.
Martens said the products are also affordable and
quality is guaranteed.
"We always try to do what's best for the customer,"
he said. "we have no hassle pricing and guarantee the
lowest possible price."
Products include lines of dining room, bedroom,
entertainment and home office furniture.
"We're doing more than just selling a product,"
Martens said. "When our customers walk into their
houses, it should bring joy to their hearts because they
have beautiful furniture."
