(photo/submitted) Exeter/Hensall girls `B' champs ZURICH — The Exeter/Hensall PeeWee Girls fastball team capped off a success- ful season recently, winning the 'B' championship in the Huron/Perth Girls Fastball League tournament in Zurich. Exeter and Hensall combined their girls fastball programs this season and the combination made for a highly com- petitive team. The team had 16 girls this season which included four squirt -aged players playing up at the higher level. Coach Ross Bryson said, "The girls this year very quickly came together as a cohesive team with the older girls step- ping forward as excellent mentors for the younger ones. "We played a lot of ball this season with a 16 game league schedule. "We also competed in three tourna- ments throughout the season (two of which were against teams in a higher classification than ourselves) for a total of 27 games. "In addition to these games we prac- tised 16 times throughout the season (Hensall served as our practice facility) and the dedication, commitment, and effort put forth by all of our players was excellent." Bryson added all the girls were com- mitted to improving their skills and the coaching staff provided a fun environ- ment for them to do so. "They were a pleasure to coach throughout the season. "I was also fortunate to have three excellent coaches to help this season, Barb Down, Karen Tuckey, and Darlene Renning. "There was also a supportive group of parents, all of whom displayed the same level of commitment as the players. "All in all - a great season." Winners in the boys 10-12 division were: (below left) Jayden Desjardine (third), Christopher Pfaff (second) and Blair Finkbeiner (first). Back: In the boys 13 and over Justin Anstett was (second), Reid Halpenny (first) and Marc Denomme (third).
