POLICE BRIEFS
Vehicle
damaged
EXETER — On May 9 at
approximately 11:45 p.m.
OPP were called to the
parking lot of an apart-
ment complex on Carling
Street in Exeter over vehi-
cle damage.
The officer was told a
citizen had spotted four
people near a grey two -
door 1989 Ford Pro.
Something was in the
hands of the group and it
was swung at the vehicle
windows. The windshield
and driver's side window
were smashed by what is
believed to be a baseball
bat. The males, who were
tall and slender, three
wearing dark clothing and
one wearing a light tan
coloured coat, fled the
scene on foot.
They left behind approx-
imately $1,300 worth of
damage.
Huron OPP is asking for
help in finding the people
responsible for this dam-
age. If you can help solve
this case call the Exeter
OPP office or contact

Stephen Central School's Earth Friendly Garden Club unveiled a new bench beside the school's gardens last week. Made of iron, the bench
was designed and built by Tom Walsh's South Huron District High School Class.This is the sixth year for the garden club, which features 50
students from Grades One to Six. Parent volunteer Sheila deLange said students have been divided into five groups this year, with each
group responsible for a raised garden bed. Popular plants this year include gourds, pumpkins, roses and watermelon. In other school news,
Stephen Central recently received "three blooms" in the Schools In Bloom contest, carried out by Ontario Gardener magazine and
Communities in Bloom.The school received 451 points out of a possible 500 and was graded on its tidiness effort, environmental effort,

The Big Brothers/Big Sisters of South Huron are honouring the top fundraisers
and grand prize winners in their Bowl For Kids' Sake campaign. In front from left

Dashwood Seniors to
meet June 21 at 7 p.m.
DASHWOOD-On May 17, Dashwood
Seniors met at Dashwood Hall at 7 p.m.
The group was favoured with an hour
of music by the Musicairs: Phyllis
Diechert, George lee, Harvey Smith,
Marlene Diechert and Glen Diechert.
The group stayed for snacks and cards.
Ruth Stire played as all sang 0 Canada
followed by the Lord's Prayer.
A moment if silence was observed for
departed members. Roll call was
answered by 28 members with eight vis-
itors.
Minutes of the last meeting were read.
Elizabeth Henderick moved the report
be adopted as read. Ann Finlay second-
ed the motion.
Ray Rader gave the treasurer's report.
Lorne Becker moved and Velma Russell
seconded the report. Shirley Martene
gave card report. There were no med-
ical and hall board reports, as well as
no correspondence. John Horn made a
motion to return $5 to each member of
Good Companions who play in the
Senior Games. Aldene Wolfe seconded
the motion (carried).
Next meeting is to be held on June 21
at 7 p.m. Velma Russell's group is in
charge.
Share the Wealth tickets were drawn
and the meeting closed with the repeat-
ing of the Seniors' Prayer.
Many stayed to enjoy playing cards.
