There was a good turnout of res- idents who enjoyed the musical program put on by the McBride family. Following the program ten members stayed for the meeting chaired by Carmel Sweeney and Hilda Lansbergen. Patti Groot informed the women that the tuck shop cart is doing very well now and is paying for the music therapy twice a month. The auxiliary will be sell- ing quilt tickets at the Bean Festival booth on Sat., Aug. 28. Please return all money and tick- ets to Lansbergen as soon as possible for the draw. The new schedules for August were handed out and the monthly birthday party will be on Tues., Aug. 17 at 6:30 p.m., host- ed by Thames Road/Elimville United Church women. Residents have been invited to Cathy Shantz's cottage. Happy birthday wishes to Adeline Denomy of the Blue Water Rest Home who will be 100 years old on Fri., Aug. 13. The annual auxiliary meeting will be held in Stratford at the Green Wood Court Home on Wed., Oct. 6. If you would like to attend, call Sweeney about details before the end of September. The next reg- ular meeting will be on Nov. 2. The Zurich community yard sale is this Sat., Aug. 14, beginning with a fire- men's breakfast at the fire hall from 7 to 11 a.m. The free bus is going to the Bank of Montreal in Hensall Wed., Aug. 11 at 9:15 a.m. from the Blue Water Rest Home and at 9:30 a.m. from the Hay Mutual Fire Insurance corner. URI There will be roller skat- ing or blading at the Blue Water Community Centre in Zurich on Sun., Aug. 15 and Aug. 22 from 6 to 8 p.m., at a cost of $2 per person for men, women and children. Paul Todoroff of Tennessee spent a few days this past week visit- ing Mick and Kathleen Todoroff. He was picking up his daughter Brittany who has spent the past month with her grandpar- ents. Carol Butler of Sarnia spent the weekend at the home of her sister, Carmel and Jerome Sweeney. A lovely surprise 40th birthday party was held for our daughter Carrie Eybergen on Saturday. It began with a beach party in the afternoon at Southcott Pines with a big tent for shade and lots of balloons. Approximately 70 people enjoyed a delicious meal catered by Barbara and Erryn's of Grand Bend, at the home of her sister Beth and Joe Boyle. Friends, relatives and family members came from far and near to help Carrie celebrate her birth- day which was on Aug. 8. On Sun., Aug. 8 the Installation Service for Pastor Ann Krueger was held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. There was a good turnout and all enjoyed lunch afterwards. The annual St. Boniface Church chicken barbecue will be held on Sun., Aug. 15 at 4 p.m. in the school - yard. Advance tickets only are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Call Michael Hartman at 565-5516 for more information as soon as possible. St. Peter's Parish, St. Joseph, will be having a potluck picnic on Sun., Aug. 22 after the 10:30 a.m. Mass. Bring your lawn chair and Crystal the clown will entertain the children. CH NEWS A good time was had by all those who attended the appreciation volunteer potluck supper for the Agricultural Society. It was held at the Zurich Complex due to the weath- er last Thursday. President Paul Klopp and secretary Margaret Deichert welcomed every- one. On behalf of the Zurich Lions Club, John Becker presented the Agricultural Society with a cheque for $1,400 from the elimination draw. Everyone was invited to attend the next meeting to be held on Thurs., Sept. 2, 8 p.m., in the small room at the Community Centre. The Bedard family reunion was held at the home of Tony and Marlene Bedard in Dashwood on Sat., Aug. 7. Dakota Stevens, who is 12 years old, of Niagara Falls, recently spent a week's vacation with his grandparents, Don and Liz Stevens at Bayview Subdivision, RR 2, Zurich. Jim and Deanna Fawcett along with Bill and Gail Wilker of Bayview Subdivision returned home recently after an enjoyable two-week trip to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Keith and Helen Gingerich spent a few days last week visiting friends. Belated 100th birthday wishes to Meda O'Brien of the Blue Water Rest Home, who celebrated her birthday in July. A 60th birthday party was held for Don Masse, arranged by his wife Alice on July 31, was held at Smiley'z Pizza and Pub in Zurich. Over 100 friends, relatives and family mem- bers helped him to cele- brate. Music was supplied by Don Beauchamp and daughter Rachelle along with Kenny Overholt. A birthday party was held on Aug. 28 at Southcott Pines Club House in Grand Bend for sisters Lisa Giffin who will POLICE BRIEFS Uttering threats SOUTH HURON — A woman contacted Huron OPP Aug. 3 at approximately 10 p.m. after receiving a threatening phone call. According to police, a woman living in the Dashwood area received the phone call at approximately 9:45 p.m. from a man she had recently broken up with. Police say the man was upset because she was seeing another person and ver- bal threats of death were made over the phone. Later that night a 38 -year-old man from Thamesford was arrested and charged with uttering threats. He was held a short time and then released on a promise to appear with several condi- tions. He will attend court in Exeter Sept. 23. be 40 on Aug. 28 and Dianne Biggam who will be 50 on Sept. 2. It was also a farewell party for their sister, Vickie and Bob Hutchinson and their three girls who are soon moving to the Middle East. Hubert and Vesta Miller of Dashwood are the parents of the three girls. Rob and Christa Ducharme and boys spent last week in Alberta visit- ing his sister, Tracy and Wayne Lockhart and fami- ly. The Bean Festival is fast approaching, Sat., Aug. 28, and the committee in charge is starting to get things cleaned up in the bean kitchen for the big day. Helpers are needed to stir beans every night from Aug. 22 to 26 at 6 p.m. George and Maria Mathonia and several members of their family travelled to Perth, Ontario (near Ottawa) to spend a weekend with their oldest daughter Marianne. Along with George and Maria were Peter and Carolyn Mathonia and children Katie and Laura; Ken and Deb Mathonia and chil- dren Dylan and Mitchell; Brendan and Carmen Fernades and children Lauren and Claire and Bernard Mathonia. The weekend was spent swim- ming, fishing and tubing on Otty Lake and enjoying the barbecued specialities of Marianne's husband and amateur chef, Dan McIver. Recently a barbecue and get-together was held at the home of Francis and Cindy Denomme for five couples who are planning a trip to Las Vegas in September. Many have it and don't know it. Glucosamine is a popular non-prescription medication used for treating arthritis conditions. Average dose is 500 mg 3x daily although twice this dose can be used for the first few weeks.
