POLICE BRIEFS
Driving offences
Huron OPP again were kept busy
handling a large number of drinking
and driving offences in the County over
the last week..
July 30 at 1:45 a.m. an officer on
patrol in Bayfield part of Bluewater
came across a white 1988 Oldsmobile
driving the wrong way on a one-way
street. The vehicle was stopped and
the driver arrested for impaired dri-
ving after the officer -detected symp-
toms of impairment. The man was
first taken to hospital when he indicat-
ed heart problems were occurring.
The Breathalyzer was taken to the
local hospital where breath tests were
conducted. The man was found to be
just under being twice the legal limit.
The 36 year old driver of Bluewater
has been charged with impaired dri-
ving and driving a motor vehicle with
over 80 mgs. He will attend court in
Goderich Sept 20.
Another stop occurred Aug 1 at 2:45
a.m. An officer spotted a black 1986
Mercedes that had failed to stop for a
stop sign in Bayfield part of Bluewater.
The vehicle was stopped and the dri-
ver found with alcohol on his breath
and was given the roadside test. The
34 year-old male from London had his
driver's license suspended for 12 hours
after blowing a warn.
He was also charged with failing to
stop for stop sign under the Highway
Traffic Act.
Today's society doesn't need people
to take risks with their lives and the
lives of other using our roads.
Drinking and driving does not have to
happen with taxi services available
anywhere in the County. Use the ser-
vice or find a designated driver who
has not been drinking.
