George, of Exeter, has made 103 donations, while his brother has the slight edge at 108 donations.They have been making donations for 23 years and received official Awards of Merit from the Lebanon Forest Lodge. From left are deputy grand master Gary Atkinson, general purposes board member Lee Shea, George Finch, Canadian Blood Services recruitment co-ordinator Erin Brydon, Clare Hatt of London who has given blood 704 times, Murray Finch and Lebanon Forest Lodge blood donor committee chairperson Ross Ferguson. Brydon said the Finches have both potentially saved over 600 lives each with their donations.The Lebanon Forest Lodge will be hosting a blood donor clinic in Exeter Aug. 11 at the South Huron Rec Centre from 12:30-8:30 p.m. Starting in October, Brydon said Canadian Blood Services will be offering better services to donors by running at full service dur- ing the dinner hour at the blood clinics. (photo/Scott Nixon) Community saddened by constable's death By Muriel Lewis GRANTON CORRESPONDENT GRANTON-The Granton community was deeply saddened by the death of Jeffrey Pincombe 26 of London, for- merly of Granton, in a car accident just east of Arkona on Sat., July 3. Pincombe was a constable with the Oxford Community Police Force since 2002. His is survived by par- ents Bob and Anne Pincombe and twin broth- er Joel of Granton and sis- ter Paula of Ottawa. Visitation was on Mon., July 5 at the C. Haskett and Son Funeral Home in Lucan and Lay Pastor Val Hodgins officiated at the funeral service held at the Lucan Community Memorial Centre on Tues., July 6. Interment at Granton Cemetery. At the Granton Wesley United Church on Sun., July 11, Lay Pastor V a 1 Hodgins entitled the ser- mon `Smart' or `Loving'. The lessons were from Amos 7 and Colossians 1. Stacey Harlton lit the Christ Candle. The story of the hymn Nearer My God to Thee was given before it was sung. The children's time was about A Good Friend based on Luke 10. Flowers in the sanctuary were from the funeral of Jeffrey Pincombe. GRANTON NEWS Man missing MIDDLESEX CENTRE — A mentally challenged man has been missing since Saturday. According to Middlesex OPP, 34 -year-old Dale Byrne left his home on Eight Mile Road in Middlesex Centre on his bike at 11 a.m., heading for Masonville Mall. When he did not return home his father went looking for him and located his locked bike at the mall, but was unable to find his son, who functions at the level of a 14 -year- old. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black T-shirt and brown running shoes. He walks with an obvious limp and may have travelled to downtown London. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the OPP Communication Centre at 1-888-310- 1122. Stolen boat found BLUEWATER — On July 3 at 3:30 p.m. a farmer called OPP over a boat found on a farm just off Babylon Line in Bluewater. The farmer's attention was drawn to a corn field when tracks were spotted leading off a closed road. The tracks led through a cornfield into a depression in the field where the boat was hidden among some trees. A check on the boat found it belonged to Huron Shores Marina in Port Franks. The owner was contacted and told police sometime the night before a white 20 foot 1988 Doral Grande inboard/outboard boat had been stolen from the lot. The boat, valued at $18,000, has been returned to the business.
