Capsule Comments by Ernie Miatello At this time of year, we are often applying sunscreen and DEET insect repellents on our skin on the same day. It's best to separate each application by about 30 minutes to reduce any skin rash side effects of the insect repellent. It is better to breath in through your nose than your mouth. Your nose filters, moisturizes and warms the air before it goes to the lungs. Use your mouth for exhaling, food and talking. "Aerobic" means with air. When you exercise, your heart and lungs are using oxygen as efficiently as possible. This strengthens your cardiovascular system. The key concept of aerobic exercise is not how hard you exercise but how long and how often you do it. Our skin ages in two ways; one is chronological aging which is an inherited tendency to age and that we have no control over. The other is photo -aging or sun -induced aging resulting from sun damage to the s dn. You can't do much about the former but you can certainly slow down the latter. Use your sunscreen.
