Masse allowed only four
hits while striking out 11.
Exeter had chances to
score but stranded eight
runners. They compiled
six hits. Patterson had a
single, as did Oliveira.
Ryan Fairful had two sin-
gles and McCutcheon and
Smith added doubles.
Playing their sixth game
in seven days proved to be
too much of a hurdle for
the Express as they were
defeated 10-8 by the
London Stingrays Sunday.
Two first-time pitchers
did their best to hold the
fort but had limited suc-
cess.
Derek Brown made his
debut pitching three
innings. He gave up five
rims on only three hits but
allowed 10 walks.
Hummel had pitched one
previous inning during the
season. He lasted four
innings, allowing six runs
on eight hits.
Aaron Leppington
pitched the final inning,
allowing no runs.
The teams battled back
and forth until the Express
tied the score at 8-8 in the
sixth.
The Stingrays pushed
across two runs in the bot-
tom of the eighth for the
win.
Exeter hitters struck for
13 hits with multiple hits
going to Patterson with
three, Oliveira with two,
Smith with three and
Hawke with two.
Exeter plays Strathroy at
home Friday and are away
Sunday against Lakeside.
Crediton juniors lose
close game to top team
CREDITON -
Crediton junior
team ended its
winning streak
against the top -
placed London
South by a close
6-5 score.
The local squad
should be com-
mended for its
determined play
throughout the
whole game.
South's pitcher
was the best
The
girls
Kelli Fulton added two
single hits while Nikki
Cyr started the
game off smartly
with a long hit
into right field
which she turned
into a triple.
Single hits came
from the bats of
Margaret Geurts,
Megan Preszca-
tor and Kerri
Fulton's bases
loaded single in
the seventh
inning helped Crediton
take the lead.
Dixon was the star
pitcher on the mound
notching two strikeouts.
Jessica Bray played a
smart left field grabbing
a third base overthrow to
quickly throw home for
an out. Jessica Davies
was again very
steady at short-
stop position
cleanly picking
up possible base
hits and making
an out.
Crediton was
scheduled to play
Strathroy last
night at home
and head to
Ilderton tonight
for an 8:45 game.
Carrie
Crediton has seen so far
this year and she
notched 15 strikeouts
throughout the game.
With that many strike-
outs, Crediton was still
able to punch in some
runs and even have the
lead in the top of the sev-
enth inning until its
opponents came
through with a
two -out hit.
Amber Pres-
zcator led her
team at the
plate with a
triple and a sin-
gle. Carrie Dixon
pounded out a
double in the
fourth inning
and added a sin-
gle in the sixth.
