Pancake breakfast at airport

CENTRALIA - On Sun.,
June 27, children and
teachers from the Sunday
School led worship at
Centralia United Church
to celebrate the Sunday
School Anniversary. Carol
Powe, superintendent of
the Sunday School, wel-
comed everyone and gave
the announcements.
Everyone joined in singing
Happy Birthday to
Candace Powe, Jason
Essery, and Ruth Ann
Pickett.
Lindsay Powe then
played a clarinet solo, All
Things Bright and
Beautiful. Heather Wells,
Mikenzie Skinner and
Emily Wells lit the Christ
Candle. Following the
hymn Holy Spirit Hear Us,
Wells played a piano solo.
. Mikayla Skinner played a
clarinet solo, Give Me Oil
in My Lamp. .
Donna Smith gathered
the children together at
the front of the church for
a special time of sharing.
Smith gave each child a
ball and reminded them to
think of God when they're
playing.
Carrie Powe organized
the children and led them
in the singing of Rise and
Shine, Down in My Heart,
The B.LB.L.E., and He's
Got the Whole World.
Teacher Heather Wells
read the Scripture.
Jason Essery and Mary
Peterson sang a duet enti-
tled Get On Board the
Gospel Train. Morgan
Powe then played a piano
solo. Lindsay Powe played
Morning Has Broken on
her clarinet. The children
presented a play entitled
Mission Possible about the
search for God.
Carol Powe invited all
the children and teachers
to the front and presented
them with certificates and
special gifts. Worship
closed with the benedic-
tion and the hymn Holy
Spirit Hear Us.
Everyone appreciated
the contributions of the
teachers and children in
leading worship and
enjoyed lunch in the
Sunday School following
worship.
On Sun., July 4, worship
for Zion West and
Centralia United Churches
was held at Morrison
Dam. During July, both
congregations will join for
worship at 10 a.m. at Zion
West on July 11, Centralia
on July 18, and again at

Zion West on July 25.
Upcoming events
Help would be appreci-
ated at Centralia United
Church on Sat., July 10 to
tar the shed roof.
Everyone is invited to a
pancake breakfast at
Centralia/Huron Park
Airport on Sun., July 11
from 8
a.m. to 12
noon.
Follow the signs to the air-
port and to Glen's
TerryAir. This event is
hosted by Ontario Flying
Farmers, who are hoping
for good weather so that
some pilots will also fly in
for breakfast. The cost is
$6 for adults and $3 for
children ages 6 to 12.
Children under 6 eat free.
All proceeds from the
pancake breakfast will be
donated to the Children's
Health Foundation which
supports the Children's
Hospital of Western
Ontario.
Centralia United Church
also invites everyone to a
beef barbecue on Sun.,
July 18 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Tickets for adults are $11,
$6 for children aged 6 to
12, and free for children
under 6. (Congregation
members are also asked
to let Brent know if they
can help and bake pies.)
Campbell reunion
On June 27, the
Campbell reunion was
held at Centralia
Community Centre, with
90 family members
attending the gathering.
Jack and Debbie Glavin
and Gerald and Lori Cook
hosted the event.
Everyone enjoyed remi-
niscing about old times
participating in the
games.
Winners in the Kick the
Shoe games were Erin
and Justin Ross (under 8),
Melissa Cronyn and
Ashley Denomme (under
13) and Dough Smith and
Marilyn Carter (adult). In
the sack races, the win-
ners were Joel Thistle and
Nicolas Smith (under 8)
and Kyle Veri and Mark
Denomme (under 13). The
Smith team won the
Weinee Dip Relay. Ben
Glavin and Marg Consitt
won the Chipping
Contests. The Mystery
Guess Box was won by
Noreen Smith. Isa
Campbell and Carter
Bowerman were present-
ed with gifts for being the
oldest and youngest in
attendance.
In 2006, Joan and Don
Heywood will host the
Campbell Reunion at their
home on the third Sunday
in June.
Euchre results
Everyone is welcome to
the euchre
games which
are held
Mondays at the Malibu
Restaurant in Centralia
and at Larry's Restaurant
in Crediton.
In Crediton on June 7,
high score winners were
Shirley Kirk and Bernice
Squires while Mary Kenny
and George Adams were
the low score winners.

Lewis won the lone hands.
Norma Walper and
Harold Hodgins were high
score winners on June 21,
and Edith Eaton and
Hazel Glavin were the
lone hand winners. Low
score winners were
Alwinna Galloway and
George Adams.
