Firefighters Crediton fastball champions

barbecue

GRANTON - The
Granton Volunteer
Firefighters sponsored
their second pork chop
barbecue at the Granton
Fire Ilall on Sat., June 26,
which was a big success.
Entertainment and a
dance followed when
music was provided by the
Moonshine Riders from
the Lucan and Ilderton
area. Numerous draws
were made for prizes. All
proceeds were for the
Rescue Unit and equip-
ment.
Some from the Granton
area enjoyed the annual
ham and strawberry sup-
per at Holy Trinity
Anglican Church in Lucan
on Wed., June 23.
The Granton yard sale
apparently was successful,
according to the traffic up
and down the streets on
Saturday morning, June
26.
The Granton Wesley
United Church held their
annual fishing derby and
outdoor service at the
home of Lucille Evans (on
I Iwy. 7) on Sunday morn-
ing, June 27.
At St. Paul's Anglican
Church in Kirkton on Sun.,
June 27, Rev. Dalice Sim
celebrated the holy
eucharist and the message
was about having the
courage to follow in
Christ's Way. Jill Schaus
read the lesson.
There will be no regular
Sunday services at St.
Paul's during July, but the
congregation is invited to
attend services at St.
James Anglican Church in
St. Marys.
The Crediton
midget girls fastball team was recognized for its four -peat All -
Ontario Rural Softball Association championships (2000 - 2003) by the
Municipality of South Huron June 21. Pictured in back left to right are Nikki Cyr,
Carie Pertschy,Amber Preszcator, Jessica Bray and Kerri Fulton; in front from left
are Kathy Glen, Ke11i Fulton, Julie Prout and Janelle Dykstra. Other team members
consisted of: Jessica Davies, Megan Preszcator, Carrie Dixon, Robin Nicholson,
Margaret Geurts, Laura Rollings,Annette Grotentraast, Dawna Glen, Danielle
Pertschy, Lindsay Parsons, Natalie Laporte, Casey Cyr, Rachel Michielsen,
Stephanie Chalmers, Krista Hodge, Kristen Tompkins and coaches Deb Lord and
Tammy Preszcator. Honourable mention should go to Nikki Cyr and Megan
Preszcator, who both played on all four ORSA championship teams.A brass
plaque will be placed at the South Huron Rec Centre in acknowledgement of the
team's success. Also receiving recognition from the municipality were the 2003-
04 A11 -Ontario Champs Exeter Hawks, the South Huron Bantam 2001-02 OMHA
CC champs and the South Huron Midget 2003-04 OMHA CC champs.

POLICE BRIEF
Three
youths
arrested
LUCAN — On June 23 at
approximately 3:20 a.m.,
Middlesex OPP officers
received information of
three youths causing dam-
age to property on Main
Street near Albert Street
in the Village of Lucan.
Officers arrived and
were told by witnesses
that they had observed the
youths responsible for the
damage. The witnesses
led police to the three
youths involved and they
were arrested.
A 15 -year old male from
Middlesex Centre was
arrested and released,
and a 15 -year old male
from the Village of Lucan
was arrested and
released. A 16 -year old
female from Lucan was
arrested and held in cus-
tody for a bail hearing.
The female faces two
charges of mischief under
$5000.00, and numerous
other charges relating to
failing to comply with bail
and sentence conditions.
Names of the accused can-
not be released under the
Youth Criminal Justice
Act.
Damaged property
includes several large
flowerpots that were
pushed over and emptied
in the streets, a bent stop
sign, a damaged fire
hydrant, and a fence that
had several boards
removed.
The youths admitted to
consuming alcohol earlier
in the evening.
