VARNA CORRESPONDENT
VARNA - Church service was
in Goshen on Sunday with
Pastor Elly Van Bergen with the
welcome and announcements.
Flowers placed in the sanctuary
were in loving memory of Dawn
Rathwell. A celebration of life
service was held at the Complex
last Thursday evening. Marg
Robinson lit the Christ Candle.
The Call to Worship followed.
Pastor Van Bergen's story for
the children was about excuses
and her sermon was entitled
`Nothing Means More To Me
Than Serving God, But ???'
Jean Armstrong is in the
Bluewater Rest Home. Please
remember her in your prayers
as she gets stronger.
July worship services
July worship services will be
more varied and informal. This
Sun., July 4 will be the Canada
Day theme giving thanks for
Canada followed by an outdoor
social time. This will be in
Varna. Sun., July 11 again in
Varna the service will be coun-
try gospel -style worship with all
the hymns out of the Country
and Western Hymnal. Sun.,
July 18 the service will be testi-
monial style. Sun., July 25 the
picnic service will be held at the
Complex with the Exeter
Community Band as guests with
a potluck lunch to follow.
Vacation Bible School at
Brucefield United Church will
be held from August 3 to August
6.
On Thurs., August 26 the
Varna UCW will be having their
annual dinner and theatre
meeting. Dinner will be catered
by the Goshen UCW and then A
Closer Walk With Patsy Cline
will be seen at the Grand Bend
Playhouse II. For tickets please
call Shirley Hill .
Armstrong family reunion
A reminder of the Armstrong
family reunion being held this
Sat., July 3 and Sun., July 4 at
the Stanley Complex.
Registration begins at 12 noon
on Saturday. There will be
memorabilia tables, photo
booths, a silent auction as well
as a genealogy display. A
potluck supper will be held at 5
p.m. At 7 p.m. there will be lots
of music and stories etc.
Sunday there will be a break-
fast from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. fol-
lowed by a devotional service
and then tours of the cemeteries
and the Armstrong Homestead.
Please remember the weekend
of July 10 and July 11 is the
garden tour and door decorat-
ing contest. There will be gar-
den and house tours as well as
numerous yard sales.

evening to discuss and finalize
plans for the weekend 'Open the
Door in 2004' to be held July
30, July 31 and August 1. Keep
